Welcome all adventure seekers to the grand safari of the wilderness!
You and a group of adventurers have signed up for a grand safari in the wilderness. Unfortunately, you weren't prepared for when disaster struck and you must trek on foot back to the mainland. In this time, you become aware of the neighboring Tribal Community which is seeking to recruit your safari members into their tribe. Only the Tribal Leader can perform the ritual to convert your safari members. The only way you believe to truly save those suspected of being a part of the tribe is to boil the evidence out of them. Unfortunately, this ultimately leads to their death. The pot is only big enough and only boils long enough for one person each Day, so choose wisely!
Mafia is a game of the uninformed majority versus the informed minority. To elaborate, the game is divided into two teams: the Town (Safari Group) and the Tribal Community (Cultists). Other than the Tribal Leader, players don't know anything except their own role. To compensate, there are many many more Town Players than Cultists, at least in the beginning. The objective of the game is for Town to lynch all of Cultists before it is too late. The game is divided into repeating phases of Day and Night. Day revolves around voting for a player to be boiled. Night is reserved for the Cultists to make their conversions and certain players to use their special abilities.
This edition of Mafia does not contain a Mafia Team. In its place are the Cultists. The Cultists' main objective is to convert players into their tribe. Active powers in the game along with the roles will be outlined in further detail below.
Be warned - Mafia requires a time commitment. This generally depends on the player, but at minimum 30 minutes a day of solid effort is required. As part of the time commitment, Mafia requires a great deal of reading. Most people are actually quite poor at reading comprehension and playing Mafia is a great way to improve your reading ability, as well as your writing and ability to think and argue logically.

ROLES
This game uses a semi-open setup. These are all the possible roles in the game. I will not disclose how many of each role there are. There is no guarantee that all roles will be used. All roles a player has been will be revealed upon their death.
Players will be randomly assigned roles just before the game starts.
Safari Group
Safari Traveler (Townie)

You are a member of the Safari Group. The only reason you wanted to join the safari was to experience wildlife with your own eyes and experience the amazing sights. You have no Night Abilities, but you can talk as much as you want in the thread and cast a vote every Day.
Parakeet (Gunsmith)
*Can be converted*
You are a Parakeet. All your life you’ve been snatching shiny guns from various campsites. Your nest is now becoming a safety hazard for your eggs, and you need to get rid of your hoard of weaponry. Every night you may choose to PM the host with the name of the player you wish to give a gun to. You can choose not to give a gun to anyone; you cannot give a gun to yourself.
The player to receive the gun will be told the following Day. The player must then PM the host with the name of the player they wish to shoot during the Day. They will have a 50% chance of remaining anonymous. The gunshot victim is guaranteed to die and will die shortly after the PM is received. If the player chooses not to shoot anyone or does not PM the host by the end of the Day, no shot will be fired and that gun will no longer be active.
Safari Hunter (Vigilante)

You are a Safari Hunter. You decided to come on a safari while illegally bringing your gun along with you with the intention of shooting at the wildlife. However, now you have found a new purpose to use your weapon, which unfortunately only has one bullet left. Once per Game during Night you may PM the host with the name of a player you wish to shoot.
Safari Doctor (Shrink)

You are a Safari Doctor. You are on the safari in order to aid any cuts or scrapes the members of the Safari Group may encounter. You have also educated yourself on the rituals the Tribal Leader undertakes to convert members to their tribe. Thus, you have found out ways to prevent this ritual from succeeding. Unfortunately, due to the darkness of the night and the thick greenery surrounding the area, you are only able to aid one player per night. Every Night you may PM the host with the name of the player you wish to protect from the Tribal Leader. If a protection is effective, both you and the person you protect will be notified. You can only prevent a conversion ritual during the night it takes place. Already existing Tribesman cannot be converted back to the Safari Group. You can only protect people from the Tribal Leader.
Stalker

You are only on the Safari because you think a few people joining you on this trip are extremely attractive. You are addicted to following them around everywhere especially during the Night as you can't get enough of their ravishing good-looks. At the start of the game you may PM the host with the name of a single player you wish to stalk. If you do not send in the name of a player you want to stalk by the end of Day One, you will be given a random player to stalk. This will allow you to view all players visited by this person and all players who visited this person automatically at the start of each Day. However, you will not be told of any specific actions used or the roles of the players. Also, you have tied your entire life around this single person to the point where you can't stand being away from them at all. If they die, you will commit suicide to be with them.
Vengeful Spirit (Granny)

Given your godly status, you don't take kindly to participating in mortal affairs. You despise the very thought of having your status lowered through a tribal conversion ritual. Additionally, you don't like taking help from anyone. Thus, if anyone plays an action on you during the night, you will kill them. Their action will not go through. You will also remain alive. However, you are vulnerable to Boiling and Day-Shots.
Lion

You are a lion. You spend most of your time away from the Safari Group except during the Night. When Night rolls around, you feel tempted to prowl around the Safari Group investigating the members. Every night you may PM the host with the name of the player you which to observe. If the player you chose to observe is a member of the Safari Group, they will feel threatened and rise up and kill you. If the player you chose to observe is a member of the Tribal Community, you will feel threatened and kill that player. Alternatively, you can choose to hold back prowling around the campsite. Just be sure to PM the host that you decide to observe no one.
Tribal Community
Tribal Leader (Cult Leader)
You are the Tribal Leader. Your tribe members have been thinning out constantly, and you are trying to target new recruits to become members of your tribe. Every Night you are allowed to PM the Host with a name of the player you wish to incorporate into your tribe. If the target has successfully been incorporated into your tribe, they will be given the link to Cult Chat.
Tribesman (Cultist)
You are a tribesman who has been incorporated into the tribe from the Tribal Leader. Once you become a member of the tribe, you lose any Night abilities that you once had. However, you still can communicate within the thread and cast your vote every Day. Once being converted, you will be allowed into the Cult Chat.
Safari Group win conditions: Eliminate all members of the Tribal Community
Tribal Community win condition: Equal or Outnumber Safari Group

Cheating:
Cheating includes (but is not limited to):
1. Posting after death. You may have one polite goodbye post, but it may not contain any potentially game-changing information.
2. Ruining the game by doing something like handing out your team's member list to other players.
3. Logging on to someone else's account to get their role or looking over someone's shoulder to get their role.
4. Posting screenshots of your inbox.
5. Posting or sharing any PM you receive from a host.
6. Getting yourself modkilled to help your team. Your non-majority-decided death may not be used as a bargaining chip.
7. Signing up more than once using smurf accounts.
8. Offering favours/items/bells outside of the game for ingame information.
9. Sharing accounts with other players.
10. Posting a false role PM phrased as if you received it from the host. You can still fake roleclaim, but you cannot make it look like you are posting a PM you received from the host.
!!! ANYONE CAUGHT SHARING SCREENSHOTS FROM OBSERVER, PM, CULT CHAT, ANYTHING WILL BE BANNED!!!
Cheating is not tolerated here as it ruins the game for everyone. The mods and admins here CAN take action.
Wisdom of the Crowds
Wisdom of the Crowds is in effect. PM with the name of a player you do NOT want to play with. If I get enough PMs about a person, I will exclude them from the game. PMs will be treated with confidence.
Replacements
This game uses replacements. Replacements will be made in the game until the end of Night 2. If a player is modkilled during the designated time, then they will be replaced by a player on the replacement list.
Time Cycle:
This game will follow an approximately 24 hour day and 24 hour night cycle. In case I am not able to post around deadline, any votes after the 24 hour mark will not count and the game will be put on halt until the night post is up. The deadline will always be ---. Actions/votes will be accepted up to and including the posted time, but not after.
Posting:
Mod Font:This is the mod colour. It is reserved for the host. Please do not use it.
Question Font:
This is the question colour. Use it to ask the host questions about the rules in public. You can also PM me.
Activity:
You must post in this thread once per full day/night cycle and vote every day while you are alive. If you fail to do so, you will be modkilled.
Spam:
Spam is not tolerated, nor is any off-topic material. This also means you should condense your posts when possible. 15 one-liners in 30 minutes is unacceptable.
Editing:
Editing is not allowed for any reason. Editing will result in a warning. After that, you will be modkilled. While I ask for everybody to post as concisely as possible, post again if you have to edit anything. The board software automatically merges the posts anyway.
Inappropriate posts:
Mafia games can get heated and emotional. Please keep it civil and remember that what happens in Mafia stays in Mafia. Don't let things spill over to the rest of the forum, it's just a game. If you are unhappy with a player's posts, PM me first. Only if you are dissatisfied with the outcome should you involve the TBT staff.
Play to win.
That said, you should try your best to help your team win while you are alive and in the game. However, this does not mean that you should try to win by being a jerk to the other players so they all want to quit playing.
This also means that you cannot leave the game without a good reason. These situations will be dealt with on a case by case basis. PM your host if you need to leave the game.
Begging to be culted also goes against your win condition. If you are caught begging to be culted, you will be modkilled without warning.

Voting rules:
1. This game will use the Majority Voting System. Once a player reaches a majority in the vote count, they will be boiled.
2. Voting is done in a separate thread, located here.[ You may announce and discuss your votes in this main thread, but only votes in the Voting thread will be counted. Do not PM me your vote.
3. Please vote in the following format: ##Vote: Username. Votes not done in the correct fashion may not be counted. I will update vote counts whenever I get the chance.
4. If you want to change your vote, first type ##Unvote followed by your new vote ##Vote: Username. You can change your vote at any time and as much as you like until Day ends.
5. No conditional voting.
6. You may vote for yourself. You may not vote for anyone dead or outside the game.
7. If you choose not to vote for any particular player, place your vote as ##VOTE: NoLynch
8. If a player does not vote for three days, consecutive or not, they will be modkilled.
