I was debating just making this a "Names that you like and stuff" sort of thread, which I suppose it can be, but if you could change your own name, what would you change it to? Or if you were the opposite gender, what would you call yourself?

A lot of Italian, Spanish and other foreign names (Like Violetta/Valentina/Rosabella etc) I really like, because you can shorten them to more English-y sounding ones, or they're just pretty. I'd love Rosaline/a or Ophelia, too.

I think my name, Emma, suits me... But if I were born a boy I was going to be called John, a traditional male name on my dad's side of the family...

i like my name but i used to hate it.
i like my sister's chinese name better than mine though.
other names i think would suit me: elodie, ruby, cody.

I want my name to be DragonSlayer19xx or DarkViperMLG

But it's called Ryan instead, lame.

My first name is actually Melleia, and due to countless spelling and pronunciation errors over the years (My Spanish teacher legitimately called me "Meluluhluh" for a year, and she wasn't foreign or anything so there was absolutely no language barrier, along with several others) I've always detested my own name.

Oh my God, I sympathize with you in regards to spelling/pronunciation errors. Not going to give out my own name here, but I had the exact same thing happen to me growing up. I had one teacher mispronounce my name for nearly an entire year, until one day, one of my friends randomly blurted out, "Hey! Her name is [insert correct pronunciation]!" and the teacher just said, "Oh, my bad!" as if it was only the second week of classes and he's only called me by the wrong name twice. Ugh.

I have more problems with my last name, though. I have a Western (I think its origins are Greek?) first name (it's a rare name, though, hence the mispronunciations), but a Chinese last name. The teachers who called students by their last name were my least favorite teachers.

If I could change my first name, I might just change it to my nickname, Gena. I actually seriously thought about this when I was in middle school, but now I'm kind of "meh" about it. I don't care too much either way. I like my full Chinese name a lot (the sound of it anyways, the meaning is kind of "eh"), but of course no one can pronounce it here so I'd rather not use it. I can't even deal with my last name, haha.

I loathe my first name and not many people know it. If I could choose another it would be Rachel. :D Might be a bit confusing if I did as my new sister in laws name is Rachel.

FLORA <3 But then someone said it reminds them of butter so ): I've always like more unique-ish names like Hazel (not my real name aha) Jodie, Heather, Marcy/Marci or something like that~

I'd change it to Jun. I love it but people always pronounce it wrong. It's supposed to be "Junn" in the way of pronouncing it with the u being more of an "uh" sounds..in a Japanese way xD

Well I did already pick my own name xD Noah~ But I had much different circumstances then others.

i actually did change my name because i hated my birth name both for being spelled weird and therefore getting a lot of mispronunciations/being called by the wrong name but also because i wanted a more gender neutral name. i toyed around with the names alex and andy for awhile because i love a's but then decided on sid/t?. also changed my surname back to my birth surname because i hate my dad's surname, haha.
