[Idea] TBT Bell Thread Bonuses

Well I want to be a mod, but I'm 'to young' as oblivia thinks 5 years=1 day, I understand that you get collectibles from Jeremy or Justin, but still, I think members should get something every month, and make it fair, I understand your voluntary job but it isn't that hard, I've seen harder, not to mention this is a site where not many people come here anymore, and sites like reddit have it much worse, I'm not trying to be mean about it, but seriously like you guys have to strict rules on becoming a mod, I wanted to be but like I said about oblivia 5 years does not equal 1 day, I also noticed you want older members, but not everyone knew about this site until 2013, Im not sure if 5 years more on the TBT will work

You are too young. We require our project staff to be 15 or over, and our moderators to be 18 or over, as of our 2016 intake. If you're still here in 2-5 years time you're welcome to try submitting an application then.

You've shown through your posts in here that your intentions have nothing to do with whether or not what the OP suggested is really better for the forum, so let's drop this here. If you'd like to keep discussing this, you're welcome to contact me privately instead.

Ok I understand p, I'll drop it

Modding a site is demanding work, more so that the mods aren't paid for it and do it in their spare time. It's time consuming, it can be stressful if people argue (and they always will) and it should be respected. The age cap is there because you may think you're the most mature in the world at 12, but everyone at 12 thinks that yet it's never true.

Making bells is easy, just make quality posts. I am not even a heavy poster but I have absolutely no problem making bells, I constantly buy things so they're in rotation all the time, I have yet to experience wanting to get something but not having enough. Just post for the sake of talking, not for the sake of making virtual currency.

As for the idea in the thread itself, it it was implemented...

Editing posts takes away a tiny amount of bells if I remember correctly

Yeah, I've lost 167.5 bells from editing posts in the last week, but that's obviously my fault because I can't make a single post without wanting to edit it, but I've made way more than that from posting in that week so it doesn't really matter.

but still, I think members should get something every month, and make it fair,

If all members got bells every month then the worth of them would just fall even further. If we all got collectibles monthly those collectibles would also probably be near worthless (never-mind the amount of work to create those collectibles, you really seem to underestimate the work that goes into moderating sites and suchlike) I honestly think it's really easy to get bells here and it's run well in my opinion, but this was dropped anyway so there's no point in saying anymore.

About the actual meaning of this post, rewarding members for certain things is a good idea in writing, but it will almost never work out well. I wasn't here at the time but even welcome bells and the abd interest was misused so people could get more bells. This idea would end up even worse because (as pretty much everyone said) people would just fill brewsters with even more controversial threads just for the sake of an argument, because "argument" threads always get a bigger word count.

I edit to fix minor errors all the time, and last I checked it didn't do that. bells get subtracted when you edit, but only because the system has to recalculate your earnings.

but every post you make gives you bells, even if just a fraction of one.

unless its a part of the forums that don't give bells for posting (tbt marketplace, basement, etc)

and of course certain boards will net you more earnings than others

Wait, that happens? Haha, I will be poor forever then. I am obsessive about each post being perfect and I always re-read them and remember about adding something or such after I've posted and end up editing them like 3 times... RIP my bells.

Maybe we should only award bells in certain catagories like TBT market and ACNL stuff? We at TBT seem to go out lot more of the boundries of acnl

you are just the gift that keeps on giving, don't you?

I seriously don't even know where to begin

I'm not sure why your commenting on stuff that is over with? We literally said to drop it but obviously someone like you has to bring it up again

actually ended up having to edit my last post twice for corrections, so decided to check currency page and

yeah, I'm p sure charging for edits either doesn't exist or is so small as to be negligible (something waaaaaaaay smaller than .1, if the site would even bother to keep track of an amount that low)

This is exactly it. If you edit your post to add more content, you end up with more bells after the edit. If you edit your post to take away content then as a result you will receive less bells for the post.

I could see this working. It backs up something I said a little while ago about how getting TBT should be secondary to making quality posts.

On a similar level, I feel like people should get like, .5 TBT every time someone likes one of their posts. If you've made a point, it should be rewards. Of course, people would probably go overboard and like posts just to "give out" Bells, or make those sort of "you like this post and post a comment, I'll like yours." It'd have to have a way to be moderated.

If that were implemented people would just ask their friends to like all their posts.

I sure as hell would.

@MorningStar

Gaia actually has something like that (yes I know I compare this site to Gaia all the time, but that's just because of the similar style of forums), where you tip someone's post for 25 gold. The reason it's never abused is because 25 gold is beyond worthless, since most things on gaia cost 100b+ gold. It would never work on this site because of how valuable TBT is. It'd have to be .001 tbt or less for it not to be abused.

I have nothing to add that wasn't already said about the OP.
