and just thought I would tell you how to kick visitors out early. when they're in your town and you want to end the session, just press "start" on your DS and it'll bring up a screen that says "end multiplayer session"! and just press that. 
or you can flick the wireless switch if someone is stealing something from your town, and it'll kick them out immediately without saving.
