Earlier on my blog, I did say that I'm going over a review of what I did last year. Because of this character limit, I'm going to split into thirds. First third is January to April, second third is May to August, and last third is September to December.
January:
If you want to know something, I had obesity for a long time. I was very big and heavy. By the end of 2013, I broke the 300 pound barrier. In fact, within the last two years before January, getting me a surgery was something we were considering. But I finally got this at the dawn of 2014. Today is my one-year anniversary since the surgery.
Until I ended up in the hospital, I was spooked because I was never operated on my lower body. I had five surgeries before my gastric sleeve, a stomach surgery. January 4th was my last day I can eat. I remembered eating a lot that day. On January 5th, I can only go to liquids. And on January 6th, I had my stomach surgery. I was feeling very sore as I was in the hospital. I had my iPad, my Vita, and my iPhone as I stayed in bed. The best part was that my mom was with me the whole time. I live in a tiny town in Texas (it's the main city of its own area) and the hospital was in Houston. If you want to know the worst part, please talk to me in e-mail. This story is too disturbing for TBT, and I'm embarrased to talk about it. This (along with the bad thing in March) were the worst experiences in 2014.
Since the surgery, the focus of 2014 was to lose weight. I was also timing myself. I can only eat very little earlier since the surgery, and every time I eat, I time myself for 3 hours before I can eat again. I restrict myself from eating after 12 AM, and I can only eat four or five times a day. I've continued doing this until I joined this site. I think I should go back. Throughout the entire year, I lost 85 pounds maximum, reaching a weight I never went to since 2006. I may have gained weight back, but as of now, I'm still near that minimum weight.
While I was recovering after my first week since my surgery, Mom played Disney movies on the Apple TV every night. On the last Disney night, we went to the theaters instead, and saw Frozen. That was the second time my sister and I saw it, but first time for most of the family to see. In the second half of the month, my last semester at a junior college began. I was in Accounting and Micro Economics, and I went on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Although it was understandable, but since I didn't do much exciting things that month, January was the worst month in 2014, explaining how good 2014 really is.
February:
Like every year, February was the month of my birthday. But this year was unusual. Since it was my 21st birthday, I am old enough to gamble, so I went to Coushatta Casino Resort, Louisiana's biggest casino resort. My birthday presents that year was a fish tank, talking Frozen plushes, and fish. At the time, I was a huge Frozen fan. I named my fish after Frozen characters.
As I focus on dieting, I was primarily eating meat, which were both low in carbs and high in protein. I was also cutting back on soda the whole time since the surgery, but I only get it on occasions. My father had a conference in another city, so my dad left for my birthday. Even my mom left, so my grandmother was in charge of me (yes, I am under guardianship. I had it since I was 18). On my birthday, I saw The Lego Movie in theaters. It's pretty funny that someone would watch a movie about kids' toys on his 21st birthday. My birthday cake this year was cheesecake. I still ate small.
On the week after my birthday, I went to the casino and stayed three nights. Originally, we planned four, but we left a day early due to something bad going on during Saturday. Although Keno was my first game and slots are more common, I spent most of my time on Roulette. I wasn't doing too well with winning. What I like about Coushatta was their rooms, their games, and their restaurants. Saturday was my worst day. There was a power outage in the morning-noon in most of the casino. Fortunately, my favorite restaurant and the non-smoking area still had power, but the hotel rooms were powerless. Also, I heard news about my fish dying from home. Power went back up, but there was another power outage. That time, I heard about an electric fire. Even though I was safe as the fire did not get to our hotel (and it was too small and under control), it was bad enough to where we left early.
Interesting fact: Disney Princess Elsa is 21 years old, and the 13th princess in line. Frozen was big around the time I turned 21, and my birthday is the 13th. I even like ice powers.
March:
Although not much happened, something significant happened. I had two old high school friends from another state visit me (I told one of them about this site later this year). During their visit, we watched Disney movies together, including Frozen since it was their favorite movie. As the fun thing, we went to the Houston Rodeo and Livestock show, which I did not enjoy due to heavy crowds and how I don't like cowboy shows.
On the way back, there a wild pig running across the road at night. My mom tried to avoid it since she loves animals, but the pig purposely got in front of the car, causing car damage. We had to park near a gas station in the middle of nowhere. The police came by to comfort us and chat as we wait for my father to pick us up. At the same time, a tow truck picked up our car. We chat with the police about my life as we wait for the tow truck. When my father came, my high school friends and I got in the back of the truck. We sang Frozen songs together. We were able to get back, but my mom's car was badly damaged as we waited for her car to be repaired. The pig thing was my worst experience this year.
After my friends went back home, I started using GameFAQs because I was looking for a lab wall in ACNL. I was appalled when I heard about the group mechanic.
Interesting fact: March was the month I saw the entire movie Oliver & Company for the first time. Oliver & Company was the movie I saw the most in 2014.
April:
Unlike February and March, I didn't go out to anywhere exciting, but I did do something new. Before I joined TBT, I mostly spent my forum time on GameFAQs.
What I actually did on GameFAQs that month was that I written a guide. My first FAQ was on Public Works Projects. I currently have two FAQs, but I submitted one that month. It was published. When I need help on which PWPs to unlock, I read my own guide.
I also played ACNL online a lot. I was able to get some items, earn some Bells. I even broke the 100 million Bell barrier that month.
The last thing I'm going to mention is that April was the month of the 100-day mark since my surgery. I had a chocolate pie from Burger King to celebrate the 100-day anniversary from my surgery. I still was doing well with my diet, but I started going downhill next month.
That's all for the first third of the year. Be sure to see the StarFall Press tomorrow to learn more about the summer third.
