It's my birthday today! And I got Photoshop for it :) Now what do I do?? Can anyone teach me?

Thanks

Do you have a tablet to draw on your computer ? You can manage drawing with a mouse but a few have patience and talent for it really. About teaching, there are plenty of tutorials, step by step, explanation made out there, and most of them for free depending on your level at the moment, but I presume you've just started digital painting, and I don't know about your traditional skills. The museum is rather to expose and get criticism and help about what we've done rather than taking a hand and actually teaching from the very start ;) Pretty sure people will come here with useful links, or even tips.

Happy Birthday! And congrats for getting Photoshop. :>

Well the first step to familiarize yourself with a program is to play with it! Try out all the different tools available on the tool bar to see what it does, and if you like adjust its setting to your preference. It's also good to try and remember the basic keyboard shortcuts (e.g. Step backward is Alt + Ctrl + Z) as it will make your life easier, believe me.

You will possibly see these terms in tutorials so it will benefit you to familiarize with these as well! Except with the 'Palette' at the right. I usually refer those as 'Panels' so Navigator/Info panel, Layer panel, and Colour panel. As you can tell that's what Photoshop looked like back in the day lmao so it's a bit outdated.

CS6/CC Workspace. Still relatively similar to the Workspace in the first image, however in CS6/CC you can change the appearance of your Workspace (click the image and it will direct you to a website with the tutorial + where I got the image). This feature is not limited to CS6/CC and should apply to most current PS programs. Sorry about the size of the image btw! orz
Is there anything in particular you want to do before you got PS? Dabbling in digital art? Making graphics such as signatures/icons? Photo manipulations?

There's also tons of beginner Photoshop tutorials available in sites like deviantArt for example that you can search up in your free time. Unfortunately I don't have any tutorials that I personally recommend so hopefully someone else can.

Happy birthday!! I use photoshop in my first hour for the class but we don't use it to draw anything we just make different things by mashing tons of pictures together it's really fun!
