Yeah my younger brothers and sisters can't offered a 3DS so they can't play with me they all had the game for Ds WW we would always play together on it lol when I showed them it they where so happy! can't wait for it!
The 2Ds was made with younger children in mind. That's why it has no hinge (which can be broken off easily by kids) and no 3D option(can injure kids' eyes). I personally won't get it, but I think it's nice that Nintendo is taking kids into account (and it's a bit cheaper, as well!)
How come they didn't think of this earlier?
But...I'm not getting it. No way would I spend my money on something like that, to be honest...the only difference is that you don't have the 3D switch and it plays all games. I honestly don't think it's worth it, but there's plenty of people that would find it useful. Nintendo's gotta make their money somehow!
I wouldn't get it though because I think that it is a horrible waste of my time. I mean....I own a 3ds and if your children are (8 & under) and too young to play a game with 3D, just restrict 3d access on the 3ds until they are old enough to handle it. I don't see the point in buying a system that is only $40-$50 less but oddly shaped and a complete waste of time. 3D games are more fun in 3D and a 3DS is cheaper now than it was when it first came out 2-3 years ago.
Somehow the 2DS reminds me of the Wii Mini in the case that they both have their limited options. With the Wii Mini, it apparently can't access the internet. DX Might have other limitations, too, but I'm not sure what they might be.
The 2DS looks pretty bulky in my opinion... The only way I can see it being carried around is in a backpack... I can see a problem with the design of the device, too... How can it go into sleep mode to obtain street passes when it can't be closed? Anything in that backpack could accidentally press a button and get it out of sleep mode (however that works)... There's probably no carrying case made for it yet...
Horrible design. It's bulky, the double screen makes less sense on it and the (most definitely not) scratch-resistant screens are more exposed. I'm sure this is made for the younger-than-seven crowd whose parents couldn't be bothered know that the 3D couldn't be turned off to not hurt their kids' eyes.
Makes sense on Nintendo's part now that Pokemon is coming out, though I think it could've been an opportunity to push 3DS sales higher instead of splitting it by releasing this.
Anyway, some used 3DS units go for the same price and have better value for anyone over five who don't throw their things around.
I think the design is awful. There are a few games that require the ds to close and open (e.g. Professor Layton) in order to continue with the stories, so how does that work? I do think ACNL might be fun on it though
How would one go about carrying this thing around? It's way huge! And how could I forget how ugly it is?
I understand the 2DS is not aimed at people like myself, but even at 16 years of age, I've dropped my 3DS umpteen times and never, ever have the hinges been damaged. The same applies for the DS Lite I used to have. I just can't get over the bulky tablet-like design. It inhibits its portability. Though a bit more pricey, the 3DS's aesthetics are more appealing; and if a child's parent could be arsed to do so, the settings can be altered to prohibit the use of 3D.
