Ssb 3ds for me is the best. I have played more than 400 hours and still play it sometimes. Smash ultimate is probs better but I haven't played it yet but it will probably be my new favorite when I will play it.

brawl is my favourite. i know it has a lot of flaws but i enjoyed playing it the most and im not a competitive player so

I know it's the most recent so maybe I'm still in the honeymoon period, but Smash Ultimate is probably my favourite.

In large part due to having all the characters included since the removal of characters like Snake and Mewtwo in previous games was pretty disappointing for me, as well as my favourite character from Smash 4 (Lucina) probably being unlikely to return if Ultimate didn't have all the characters.

It's also nice that it's portable without the drawbacks of Smash 3DS such as crappy controls and the screen being too damn small for such a game. Played it quite a bit when I've done my work in the office as well as when I was away from home over the weekend.

Other than that: Ultimate > Smash 4 > Melee > Brawl > 64 > Not having Smash > 3DS

I really didn't gel with the 3DS release.

For me, Brawl is my favorite. It's just one of those games I loved to play
back then when I had a Wii. I remember how much I enjoyed to go through
The Subspace Emissary, because it was a lot of fun for me and it's also that
part of the game where I spent the most hours into it. Beside the story mode,
I also liked the way you could collect trophies (to be honest, I kinda miss them
in Ultimate, nothing against those Spirits, but still...) as well as that the Pokemon
Trainer and Lucario got introduced in this game. Both became back then my favorite
fighters. Overall, I still would play Brawl if I had a Wii because even if it's not 100%
perfect, it's a fun game for me.

Of course, Ultimate is also pretty nice and a favorite of mine. World of Lights makes
fun and I love the fact that Daisy, Incineroar, Isabelle and Pichu (again) are playable
in this game.

Going to say Melee for now because it was the first one I genuinely played by myself and with a friend, and I have fond memories of staying up all night when I was younger to unlock all the hidden characters with said friend. I wouldn?t have even known there were so many if he hadn?t told me about them, lmao.

Of course, I can?t vote for Ultimate yet because I haven?t played it and probably won?t be able to for awhile (money is tight in the family and I can?t justify paying for it and a Switch right now), but when I do finally play it it will probably replace Melee as my favorite. :)

Ultimate > Wii U > Melee > Brawl > N64 > 3DS

I currently rank Ultimate as my favorite because it's so new and exciting. All of the new fighters are really fun to play, it's cool to have almost all of the stages back, Spirits are a nice concept and it's fun to see the references in their battles and to use your favorite characters Spirits alongside your fighters, and stuff like unique end bosses for some Classic routes is a nice touch. I've found myself getting a better feel for certain characters that I liked to use but wasn't as good at in previous games like Lucas and Roy, so that's pretty great. Some bits do feel rushed and some things disappoint me, but it's overall a solid, enjoyable game.

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U was great for me as it was the first game in the series where I could play online with friends. I had a ton of fun doing just that, and it was fun to find weird Miis whose QR codes I could scan and use to make people laugh. This game was the first in the series where I chose a main, Ike, a secondary, Marth, and really dedicated myself to getting good with them and the other handful of characters I'm good at compared to the rest of the roster like Mario, Peach, Samus, and Zelda. I sunk a lot of time into Smash Bros. for Wii U and don't regret it a bit, it's fantastic. I almost ranked it as equal to Ultimate, and that probably will become more true as time passes, but for now it's in 2nd Place.

Melee is next. Aside from Wii U, this is the one that I put the most time into since I was a kid and had more free time to waste. The speed was a fun and unique aspect and the roster was solid. I also played this one a good amount with local friends back in the day. Oh, and it's the introduction of Fire Emblem to the Smash Bros. series with Marth and Roy, so that's great as far as I'm concerned.

Brawl comes after that. Subspace Emissary was an enjoyable mode and it brought in some of my favorite characters to use like Ike and Lucas, both of whose games I love. I was very disappointed with the removal of Mewtwo and the addition of Lucario in their place. I was pretty annoyed with that back in the day, even if the Aura aspect adds some more interest to the playstyle. I've never really been a fan of Lucario in Smash Bros. or in the main series Pok?mon games and its popularity feels a bit baffling. To get a bit off that tangent, this was the first game in the series to actually remove characters that were previously in, so it felt in some ways inferior. But hey, to end on a positive note, it was cool to battle bosses like Porky, Rayquaza, and Ridley.

N64 is next. I played it back in the day when it came out and still remember seeing the commercial on TV as a kid. It was fun for its time and I played it with friends, but nowadays there's nothing to come back to really. It was great to see Ness as an unlockable character at the time since my brother is one of the people who actually bought EarthBound when it came out and I watched him play it. Again, good for it's time, but now a bit too archaic.

Finally, in last place, there's Super Smash Bros. for 3DS. The game had some good aspects like its stage selection, which I honestly greatly prefer over the stages present in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. But honestly? After it came out and I saw tons of reports of people breaking their Circle Pads by being too rough with them while playing Super Smash Bros. for 3DS, I became quite reluctant to bother playing it and, while I initially bought it to get as early access to Mewtwo as possible for the Wii U version, almost as soon as I got Mewtwo I sold the game to buy something else instead. Additionally, the only controller I feel comfortable using while playing a Super Smash Bros. game is the GameCube controller, and that obviously wasn't an option in this case. Also, even though I didn't ever play as them much and even still to this day don't, it was the 3DS port's fault that Ice Climbers were removed despite being completed for the game already. The game is probably fine, but it ultimately gave me the least.

Update on this. I just played Smash Ultimate for the first time, and guess what, it’s my new favorite!

My ranking would be as follows

Ultimate > Melee > Nintendo 64 > Wii U/3DS > Brawl

Ultimate just has so MUCH to offer in terms of characters, stages, and more thanks to accumulating them over the years that it simply can’t be beat. Melee is second for the reasons I mentioned above and the fact that it was when Smash truly started to become recognized as a fighting series. Nintendo 64 is third because it was the first Smash, and was fun even though there weren’t a lot of characters to play as. Wii U/3DS is fourth because I had so much fun playing Smash on that entry with members from this site, plus the character selection and stages were nice. Last is Brawl because while I did play it along with the other four entries, it’s honestly the most forgettable out of all of them. Its only saving grace is the Subspace Emissary mode, but even then it wasn’t as fun as Smash for the Wii U/3DS.

Melee > brawl > Ultimate > Wii U > N64 > 3ds

Well, melee was the first sb game I played, and i have really fond memories of playing with all my older sibs. The stages were iconic (poke floats is great, **** that one LoZ stage with the moon). When brawl came out, we pretty much abandoned melee. Brawl to me is a great game as well, it brought back a lot of old stages and the subspace emissary was super fun. The next smash game i played was the 3ds one. Super disappointing. I hardly liked any of the stages, and they didn't bring back many older ones. Huge bummer, and it just wasn't fun to play by yourself. I hardly played the other two but they can't be as bad as that one to me lol

Ultimate > Wii U > Brawl > Melee > N64. 3DS is unranked since I've never played it but I suspect it would be along the lower end of the scale

Ultimate is definitely my favorite, and really feels like Smash at its best. So many characters and so much content in general... I just love it! Being portable is also a plus.

Wii U was also good, and an improvement over Brawl. While character cuts were unfortunate, the cuts were also characters I never played as much. Had lots of fun and good times with it!

Brawl... was my very first Smash game and still holds a special place in my heart. Despite its flaws, I had lots of fun playing it! Subspace Emissary was also fun!

Melee... honestly, I just never got into it? Maybe because I'm not competitive and also didn't grow up with it, but the few times I've tried it I just didn't like it as much as newer games. Doesn't help that most of the characters I like playing were introduced in later games...

N64... I've only played once at a friend's house. While it was fun seeing where the series started, it just can't compare to newer games nowadays.

First, Melee and Brawl. I never liked the Wii U one (never got the chance to try the 3ds one though) and I haven't tried ultimate sooo yeah.

It's so hard to pick... I went ahead and voted for ultimate, but I'm still pissed that couch co-op online lobbies aren't still a thing. Smash Bros. Brawl modded with Legacy XP is pretty amazing though too.

Ultimate for sure! I used to be Team Melee but Ultimate feels like an upgraded version of Melee.

side note that I'm surprised to see that many votes on Brawl considering all I hear about Brawl usually are complaints of how much it sucks lol.

I have to say Ultimate but Brawl is very nostalgic for me 😭

Ultimate. I like that there are more characters/maps to choose from and how fluid the gameplay feels compared to previous entries. Melee would have to be my second favorite purely due to nostalgia. 😅
