Because I'm new, the site won't let me upload a picture, but did anyone notice the change in the direct regarding save data recovery? The fine print use to say "Nintendo Switch Online member can only have save data recovered one time due to loss or damage of system" but now it says "More details on save data recovery functionality will be shared at a future date"?

Sorry if this was already posted. I looked and didn't find anything.

I don't recall this being posted, but that is definitely different as I made a thread bringing up what it originally said the day of the Direct. It seems they saw the worry and have reworded it to avoid issue, or are planning on reworking it.

Yes, they actually de-listed the original video by making it private and uploaded an entirely new one just to change this information. They de-listed a video with over a million views for this update. Animal Crossing World noted the change in this tweet: https://twitter.com/ACWorldBlog/status/1231052294189453313

Quite honestly, with the first one, I was shocked! I was thinking its a bit silly to only have one chance when you're going to be playing for years! (っω-` )
Thankies for the update!!!

Unfortunately, people would likely find a way to abuse it so they likely did it this way to know it wouldn't be abused. But it caused more upset than good, so they decided against it hopefully.

i’m hoping they’ll be changing it so that save data can be recovered more than once

Ah... I forgot about the abusers (꒪⌓︎꒪)
Hopefully they find some way to block abuse! (◞︎‸◟︎ㆀ)

I don't really mind not having a cloud option as I've never needed it with past AC games, but I definitely think they should add one for those who pay for Nintendo Online.

If people are going to duplicate items and bells, at least they will be paying Nintendo for it. I feel like their whole take on this is to prevent duplication of paid-content, which is unconfirmed just yet, but could be a hint.

Nintendo needs Iwata back. Whoever is in charge is doing a great disservice. Even Reggie made a great difference, even though he was in charge of Nintendo in NA.

If it's just to prevent duplication of paid content, why not just make the paid content non-transferrable? Like you literally can't drop it on the ground in such a way that other players can pick it up.

So many of us aren't abusing it though.

I wouldn't have a clue how it's even done, so punishing (for lack of a better word) everyone, for what some others might do seems a tad extreme to me.

This seems like a positive change. Hopefully people who lose data will be able to recover it while abusers will be prevented.

Sadly, that's how decisions are made on nearly 100% of games. Exploits are always patched out due to the minority of exploiters.

EDIT:

Typically it's done like this. More or less.
Backup your save to the cloud.
Give your friend money
Download your save from the cloud.

Typically, it's the minority that ruin it for the majority. That's true of those who TT and those who don't, and the item-duping tters, and the ones who don't.
