I'm currently at 10 villagers, and was wondering something about getting new villagers to move in.
My understanding is that: if you use an amiibo to have someone join your campsite, you can invite them from the campsite, and in turn pick a villager to force to move out to make space for them.
My question is: can any villager from the campsite (e.g. non-amiibo) force another one out?
And can inviting someone from a mystery tour force a villager out?

I'm trying to figure out if I should save my nook miles and tickets for when someone leaves, or if I'll be able to invite someone at any time.

Thank you!

bumping the Q! (get it, cuz this more akin to a stack with the most recent ones being used first)

From what I heard if you have someone join the campsite without using an amiibo, you can force somebody out, HOWEVER you cannot choose who is forced out! With an amiibo you can choose (perks of paying for the card I suppose) so if you force somebody out without using an amiibo you're risking getting rid of someone you don't want to get rid of!

From my understanding once you're at 10 villagers they stop appearing on island tours, and you can't recruit anyone from someone else's island. The campsite is the only way.

Thank you so much!! and my goodness that's dramatic; only with amiibo do you get to choose who's kicked out

Hope you don't mind me adding a question? Just wondering - if I'm not forcing someone to move, do they still move out in the same way as other versions? Like someone will tell me they're thinking about moving out and I can force them to stay if I want? Sorry, still pretty early on in the game and don't have enough villagers for them to start moving out (I assume as I still only have 3) but just want to make sure I'm not going to wake up one day and find out a dreamie has gone! Cheers :)

I can answer that one! yeah so villagers will occasionally have a thought bubble over their head, and when talked to ask about moving out, then you can convince them to stay or go! (you only get one chance though so don't mis click :p). As far as I know, villagers CANNOT move out in this game without telling you first, so it's always up to you and never unexpected :) It's harder to get people out than in in this game :p

Brilliant thank you! Yeah iirc in previous games you had the option to change your mind, right? Loving how easy it is to find villagers I like to move in now we have the Nook Miles tours - now I'm at five villagers they're not showing up on islands though! Assuming I need to progress more before getting more villagers but can't wait! :D

Oh that makes me happy knowing I’ll never accidentally have another dreamie move out again. However, if it really is random when kicking villagers out, that might sting a little if the rando is someone I care about

If we can trust the post at polygon mentioned in another thread about this issue, it at least is not as bad as it seems:

Inviting a camper that came to your Campsite randomly, rather than from an amiibo card, will also replace one of your villagers. You may have to talk to them multiple times for the option to come up, though. The camper will randomly pick a villager to boot out, so this is riskier, as they might ask if they can replace a villager you like.

Based on our tests, you can reset the game when the camper asks if they can replace somebody in order to get them to ask for somebody else.
