Where were personality types (ex.Snooty) officialized by Nintendo? From what I can tell, the names of the personalities are fanmade.

Well, if it were fan-made, they'd probably be different terms. Also, we wouldn't quite know what to call the ones who are currently titled "Uchi". So they must come from somewhere important.

uchi in japanese means out. If you guys were wondering...

Aren't they (apart from uchi) the closest English translation of the Japanese word used to describe each one? Or am I just making that up?

I just got them from the strategy guides. Wild World's guide lists the personality a villager has along with their catch prhase and the comment that goes with their photograph.

Sadly the New Leaf guide is not so kind. So I have to have people confused when I refer to Uchi as 'Tomboy' (which is the closest word I have for them).
