So, recently i've seen a lot of users with a Toyhouse link in their signatures. I've always wanted to have a Toyhouse account but i don't have the thing you need to create a account there. How do i get the invite codes, where i get it and what is Toyhou.se, why everyone have a account there and what that site is about?

It's an invite only site at the moment so you'll have to get a code from someone that has an account and has extra codes (sadly, I don't, you have to be a special member or something to get codes)
Toyhou.se is a website for artists/people with characters/ocs to store art and references of their characters. There's also forums and other things you can do on there but most people just use it to keep their characters and art on there.

To get an invite you have to ask someone who has a premuim account on the site. They get a few codes to give out every month. ToyHouse is just a website where you upload all your characters to write them bios and upload all the art you get of them!

I've also been looking into getting a toyhouse account, because it's seems like the most convenient way to store all my commission... BUT it's soooo weird that it says it's still in invite Beta

TOYHOUSE
... is in invite beta? Check back later!

This leads me to believe that it'll become available without having an invite code in the future except that the last time the website was updated was 2017... (unless the year means something else)

Has anyone gotten an invite lately? I can't remember the last time people were getting codes. They used to be threads here all the time giving away/selling toyhouse codes.

I got an extra one for my friend about 3 months ago. Looks like there’s still people giving out codes on the TH forums, and there’s an official code request/giveaway thread. https://toyhou.se/~forums/11.genera...equest-thread-and-guide-update-9-15-?page=649

Im not sure if people outside TH can comment, so I dont mind posting to request for a code if anyone is looking for one.

I also initially got my code by trading art for a code with someone on deviant art, so that’s another way to acquire one ^_^

I was looking into it, but I've seen people request "points" and I have no idea what they're talking about .-.

I haven't but today I considered signing up for one month of premium so I can generate a few codes.

I think it's kinda like a type of currency on Deviant Art. I can't recall how you earn them but I know they can be bought with real money as well.

I think they may be talking about deviantart points? Ive seen people exchange codes for those, but it may be another kind of site currency

Since you both suggested the same thing, I guess you're both right! I've also seen people request art.. but I'm no artist t.t I feel like a complete noob to all this, but I guess you gotta start somewhere. TYSM for all the info! <3

You can also beg on the toyhouse subreddit for codes, that's where I managed to get mine.
Not linking it here but instead giving a slight swearing warning if you do decide to go there.

You can also check twitter for toyhou.se codes (it looks like people use the #toyhouse tag -- there are a few places that give out codes regularly too) or tumblr!

I find TH to be pretty primitive in the invite department, to me limiting your traffic is an awful idea
It's frustrating, but it has a lot of purposes: limiting traffic is usually done when their server can't handle a load (e.g. if they get too many people joining at once and they aren't ready for it, everything would get really slow, crash, and maybe cause other issues).

They're also still in beta (for how long? no one knows. maybe forever |||orz), so limiting traffic lets them add new features without worrying about too many people being affected if something goes wrong. It also helps prevent bot accounts from being created and spamming things up. Aaaand... it's probably a way for them to get money to sustain their servers (and probably grow them in preparation for more people? Maybe.)

(I hope that didn't come off sounding rude -- that's not my intention at all! I just think it's an interesting topic to talk about!)

Oh no, you're fine! I suppose looking at it that way makes sense, still being in beta for that long is kinda sus to me

A lot of sites are still in beta, even after years, especially since they do not appear to run adverts on site. Who knows about money and what their situation is, but codes mainly go out to people who are premium members. Per the invitations page, "Toyhouse is currently in invite alpha - invite codes will be regularly generated for testers whenever we feel like the site's ready for more users, but premium users will also get an additional 2 invite codes a week. This number may change in the future, depending on how we feel about the site's growth."
