Account Ban Inquiry

So, I made another account with the same FC, and I only did it so that I could make a separate cycling thread with my second copy of the game and I don't have another DS. I made it pretty clear to everyone that both accounts were one person, I wasn't trying to scam anyone.
I didn't know it was a rule not to do that, but since it is, I don't really care about the ban itself.

I do care that there was no warning given, and I also don't care for the fact that my post count was up to like 1000 and now it's 300, and my btb is now 35 when I had like 70.
Why would they mess with my base account? Why isn't the ban enough?

I don't know why the post count would change, but I'm not surprised there wasn't a warning. They ban the account so you can't use both, since you can't delete it on your own... just a warning would still allow you to use the second account. If you have an issue, you should message a mod to get a more direct answer.

I did get a warning.
I was going to put in a form, but it says only to use the form as a last resort.
I usually read the rules, but I didn't know I would get that into these forums when I started, so I guess I just didn't.
Plus people have second copies of the game all over these forums, I thought it would be totally normal to create an account for my second mayor.

Why couldn't you just post in the thread that the town your using is X town? All you need to do is tell people to look for "this town name instead of this town name" in your cycling set and you're good. It's seems like a stupid idea to try and make multiple (as it's common sense that these are banned nearly everywhere) accounts when all you wanted to do was tell people to visit a different town. I'm not sure about the posts, but the TBT thing was probably a penalty for the ban. You also weren't banned on your primary account, likely because it was a misunderstanding, but they could have done worse.

So yeah, read the rules and don't make alternate accounts.

I didn't come here to be told I'm an idiot because I made a mistake.

I made the separate account because I thought it would be easier for everyone, including me, to keep track of my cycling thread and make sure I don't confuse my towns.

I freaking realize I should have read the rules, but we've already established that I didn't, and it obviously doesn't matter now.
The only reason I came here is to ask why my post count went down because the form said to ask in HQ first, not because I wanted to.

Nobody called you an idiot, at all. I said the idea of making it sounded stupid, as in silly and unnecessary. That is not at all saying you yourself are stupid or an idiot. You're also being a hypocrite by calling other people stupid if they don't read the rules then saying we're "ridiculously rude".

As for the questions at hand, we don't know everything, but we certainly did answer some questions. The other two gave you advice, I gave you a possible reason for the bell reduction and a possible reason it wasn't enough to just ban the alternate account.

You didn't give me an answer, you gave me a guess. That's not an answer.

1 action doesn't make you stupid, it makes the action stupid. They're completely different things. If I made a stupid mistake on a test but I still got a 98% I'm not "stupid" as a person.


Guesses are still something (they're technically answers, too) to work with, but seeing as how you'll completely disregard any potential answer I give you because your mad, there's not much point in trying to help you.

I think everyone on here is being a bit rude. Saying why not just tell people to use this town instead of making a second account - yet you see how many people do not read, ignore the "rules" and still do what they want. It's easier to have a separate account sometimes then to constantly explain things and get frustrated.

As for why they messed with your accounts, I don't understand that. They make a big deal about a second account, yet I know for a fact certain users on here sell hacked villagers for tbt (it's obvious) and they don't get banned or anything.

even though i have never heard of them cutting post count? like did they delete the whole 700 first posts you made?
and they would also mess with your base account to teach you a lesson, i'm sure that if i did the same thing i would get messed with, as tbt has a generally unbiased government system

Why don't they start taking tbt from the people who sell hacked villagers, or the people who don't read the rules and then still make {trading} bells for x villager posts.

To be very clear as to why secondary accounts are not allowed and why your BTB was taken:

Most people who make multiple accounts make them to move over the BTB they earn on the account. It not only takes up user names someone else could take up, is cheating the forum bell system and not allowed. I have four towns, and just one account. It's not that big of deal to have all your towns to one account. But if you're caught with a secondary account and if you transferred your extra BTB from your second account to your first, you will have your second account banned and your BTB will be confiscated.

If a child steals something from a store and gets caught, are you saying just talking the item back is a enough? No, they get punished to learn a lesson and to not do it again. They could have banned both accounts for a couple of days, but instead they just banned the 2nd one and potentially the TBT. As for the posts, I'm not sure about that, but it doesn't really matter for the most part.

Honestly they should get rid of the welcome bells. It is something that people can (and likely are) easily exploit without getting caught unless they are being really stupid about it. It might seem unfair to newer users, but since you can already get TBT just by posting anyway, I don't see the point of having the welcome bells.

(I'm not saying that the person who posted this thread was doing that; she was being honest about having multiple accounts. The real issue is the welcome bells, not people having multiple accounts.)

The rules are set by Jeremy. I'm sure it's so harsh because people kept taking advantage of things and the mods have other issues to deal with as well. Even if your signature is one single pixel over the 250 PX limit you will find your signature placed in a spoiler by the staff, that's just how things are. BTB is a PRIVILEGE and if you are suspected of cheating the system your bells will be taken, that simple. As you said, enforce all the rules. The actions the mods took are part of the consequences of not following the rules. That simple.

Yet the people who have made hundreds of btb using hacks haven't had any consequence. It's not harsh, it's selective. It's obvious when someone is hacking and then selling it for btb, and I've seen that be let off with just a warning. But I'm done commenting on this post, I don't care what people do. I just hate seeing some people get in trouble for things while others don't. Because then, it because rather difficult to understand which rules actually apply and which don't.
