All NPCs in New Leaf that are not in New Horizons (yet)

I compiled a list of all the NPCs that were in New Leaf that have not yet been added to New Horizons. I also colored coded the name to give my opinion on how likely they are to come back based on if their features/purpose they provided in New Leaf have replaced in New Horizons.

Green (high): Their feature has not yet been replaced in New Horizons, so they are more likely to come back.
Blue (medium): Their feature has been partially replaced in New Horizons, or there is uncertainty around them, so they are less likely to come back in comparison to green.
Red (low): Their feature has been basically replaced in New Horizons, so it's not likely they will come back.

- Booker
- Brewster
- Chip: Replaced by C.J. in New Horizons.
- Copper
- Cornimer: Was a NPC in New Leaf in the Puzzle League game. We do not have any working console games like this in New Horizons yet, so there is a chance Cornimer could return if working games were added to New Horizons, but I ranked him as blue because in New Leaf he was not really an NPC that served a game function and was more of an addition in my opinion.
- Digby: While Lyle may have been labeled as red, I feel like Digby still has a chance as we do not have anything like a HHA showcase in New Horizons yet.
- DJ K.K. : While K.K. Slider is in the game and DJ K.K. is often grouped with him, I feel like there is a possibility he could return to preform non-Saturday shows, and this could go hand in hand if Dr. Shrunk returns too.
- Don Resetti: Probably is the Rescue Service Operator in New Horizons now.
- Dr. Shrunk: Considering K.K. Slider now preforms shows in the plaza in New Horizons opposed to Club LOL in New Leaf, Dr. Shrunk has a medium chance of returning as two of his three big features have been replaced, (Emotions and Saturday Night K.K. Slider shows) he would most likely only return if New Horizons adds DJ K.K./non-Saturday night performances.
- Gracie: Label has basically replaced Gracie in terms of "fashion checks", but we do not still have many Gracie-Grace clothing items and furniture in New Horizons yet.
- Grams
- Harriet: Replaced by the "mirror" item in New Horizons.
- Joan: Replaced by Daisy Mae in New Horizons.
- Kapp'n
- Katie
- Katrina
- Leila
- Leilani
- Lyle: Replaced by weekly HHA home ranking/point/recommendation letter.
- Nat: Replaced by Flick in New Horizons.
- Pave: Pretty much confirmed they will come back to New Horizons in the Free Winter Update video.
- Pelly: Replaced by Orville in New Horizons. Even though Pelly did give out DLC items, I feel like that has been replaced by the letter you get from Nintendo after an update with the special item, as well as the seasonal items at the Nook Stop.
- Pete: Considering we still have mail in New Horizons and do not see Pete wandering around delivering it, or telling us out mailbox is full, I gave him a medium chance of returning because we already have the function he goes hand in hand with in game, but no NPC or feature has actually replaced him.
- Phineas: While badges from New Leaf may of seemingly been replaced with Nook Mile Rewards, we do not technically have badges yet that show up on our passport/profile, but it could also be said that the titles we get from the Nook Mile Rewards are the New Horizons equivalent of badges in New Leaf.
- Phyllis: Replaced by Orville in New Horizons. Even though Phyllis did give out DLC items, I feel like that has been replaced by the letter you get from Nintendo after an update with the special item, as well as the seasonal items at the Nook Stop.
- Porter: Replaced by Orville/Wilbur in New Horizons.
- Resetti: Probably is the Rescue Service Operator in New Horizons now.

- Wendell: Replaced by the "Custom Designs Portal" in Dream Towns/Islands in New Horizons.



What are your thoughts on the NPCs not yet added in NH that were in NL, and which ones do you think will or will not return?

Personally, I'm of the opinion that all the cut NPCs who have amiibos are going to come back in some form, because the Direct from last February said that the characters that have amiibo that aren't supported in Photopia will be eventually.

It might be for an event (like Rover, Reece and Cyrus), it might be an actual feature (like Leif, Redd, Pascal and Luna)... but eventually, all the NPCs who have amiibo will return.

(also I in hindsight hate that Wendell got relegated to dream patterns, so giving him an actual role'd be nice?)

I really doubt they'll add the complete snowpeople family since we get the whole frozen set and mats from the snowboys and the snow diy's from balloons.

NH was my first ac game, so I'm kinda surprised that they cut out so many NPCs from this game :c at this point it seems like even if they do bring some of them back, it's unlikely that they'll have a permanent place on your island. I hope I'm wrong though, bc I really want to place brewsters cafe somewhere on my island ;v;

i don't think they will add the snowmen because of the snowboy giving out frozen diys, there's no reason for the other snowmen to return

i hope kapp'n and his family will return with tortimer island, that would be so fun

i think harriet has a chance to come back, she could sell wigs and funky contacts (like in pokemon sw/sh when u can have starry eyes, heart eyes etc)
i refuse to believe my fave poodle has been replaced by the mirror

tbh i was actually shocked when blanca and brewster were taken out the game
i'm really hoping they will return ♡

and finally rover, i know he was there for may day but my jazzy cat deserves more than a 30 minute event

I honestly think Blanca will return; I think the reason why she wasn't there in 2020 is because the game was brand-new and they wanted new players to focus on Bunny Day.

I'm really sad Wendell is probably gone in New Horizons D: He was one of my favourite special characters in New Leaf - he's adorable.

with the random focus on snowboys in NH I don't see the whole snow family coming back, although honestly I do miss my daily bingo - I've stopped making snowboys now that I've got the achievement because I just don't see the point in struggling through the "ooh so close" to get some snowflakes. I'd love to see Kapp'n and his family make a return though! it's hard to incorporate the island from NL since that's the main focus of NH lol but I'm sure there's something he could do. I'm hopeful for the return of Katrina and Brewster though! I feel like they're well loved within the community so it seems like a wasted opportunity to not bring them back

And since Isabelle doesn't want to tell us that, it's still a function that could be added back. The easiest thing they could do is stick them in the airport and make them TSA instead of cops.

It hurts. Nothing is what it seems without you. Sometimes it feels like home, so safe in the shade. But when the summer fades, there's always something missing.

Villagers told you about special villagers in ACGC as well, the day they were in town. The difference was that Copper would tell you in advance when the special visitors were so that you could prepare appropriately. Like when Gracie was due to come, he'd mention a "Bust Illegal Parking" campaign running the day she'd be in town with her car. It's less of an issue because most people have a general idea of which special visitors they'll see any given week, but there's still some utility in knowing exactly which day they'll be there.
