Amiibo Cards ACNH

I’m assuming this is the right thread to post this, but what ever happened to the re-release of the Amiibo cards that was supposed to happen last year in like November (I think?)??? I went everywhere looking for them, but none of the stores I went to said they were given any? (GameStop, BestBuy, Target) was it like a super limited release, or did they just decide to not actually do it?

I collect the amiibo cards, and still need Series 2-4 completed so I was hoping to buy a few packs :/

(and don’t get me started on the Sanrio and Welcome Amiibo ones I gave up on that)

In Australia, we had them sold at EB Games (owned by GameStop?) in November, and then by the end of December they'd run out. They offered online preorders though.

In January I could still find some being sold at some small scale anime stores.

For the Sanrio, they were preorder only at EB Games, and once they'd sold out, they removed them from the website completely (you wouldn't have even known they were being sold at all).

Anyway, I know you're not in Aus, but that was the Aus experience.

Edit to add, I see online people trying to sell whole boxes for AUD$600-800 (the retail value is AUD$220).

They went on sale at both GameStop and Target from November through (I think) January, going out of sale and coming back in stop several times before going out of stock and not coming back.

In my experience, they were being sold mostly online (for example I could not get them ordered for pick up at target, only to ship.)

attmittedly, due to the pandemic I was avoiding shopping in stores as much as possible, so I don’t know for sure, but that may be why you did not see them in stores/ were told they did not receive any.

I am not sure if they will be restocked in the future, though I hope so! Nintendosaid they would be continuing restocks last year, but the statements were made in Japan, so I am not sure if the same will be true for the US.

I really hope they come back soon! But I am not going to get my hopes up too much...

I kept checking my GameStop in November but they never got the cards.
@WaileaNoRei didn’t know target also had them hopefully they restock them. I also hadn’t thought of them being online only.

Man I must have gone each time when they didn’t have them in stock :/ I’m surprised they didn’t tell me they sold out, or maybe wherever I went they just didn’t get an actual stock in store. Regardless it sucks because I was really looking forward to them.
I definitely hope it ends up being the same in the US, especially w the Sanrio fiasco, haha.

I was wondering about that. I feel like I saw so much coverage for the Sanrio Amiibos and practically none for the regular Amiibo cards. I do miss them all being super marked down back when the only real use was HHA, a game which apparently only me and like five other people enjoyed. :d
