Amiibo cards and New Horizons

Do you think we'll be able to use villager Amiibo cards to move our favorite villagers onto the island? Why or why not?

Didn't the creators of the game talked about using amiibos in one of their interviews or do I confuse
here something? Anyway, I'm pretty sure you can use amiibos at some point, maybe they bring back
Wisp with his lamp who helps you using them. Or maybe there will be a app for the Nook Phone that
allows you using amiibos.

Either RVs are a thing in NH or the villagers just showing up inside of your house and you can talk
with them in that way. Alternative, if the campsite is coming back, maybe they will appear there or
they gonna turn the RVs into boats so that it fits better to the island theme. At least I can't imagine
that the RV villagers will not be compatible with the game if the other amiibo cards are working,
would kinda sucks if you could only use them in New Leaf.

I really hope so! I am a collector myself and I love being able to collect villagers! I hope that if they are involved it's not just for crafting items or something I would hope that we get to invite them to our island.

I stopped playing ACNL before Amiibo cards were introduced, so I wouldn't mind getting to experience them in the new game. They did make getting your favorite villagers a little bit too easy tho imo.

Using amibo cards to get those specific animals to move onto your island feels kind of like cheating. Maybe they'll do something with the pier where you can scan a card and the villager will show up in a boat at the end of it and you can interact with it? That'd be kind of cool. Or maybe that could be just for RV cards. Or maybe they will bring back scanning cards to get specific villagers, there's really no way to know until they announce it.


I don't care either way because I already own almost all of the popular character's amibos and can buy more off of ebay easily.

I think so. I don't have too many Amiibo cards, but I do have some that are my favorite villagers, such as Mitzi. I may or may not use them though, as I kinda like to move in villagers naturally and the Amiibo cards aren't a very natural way of doing it if you ask me, but who knows. I might use them if they bring them back to the stores for a cheaper price. I wish I had collected more of them though if I had know they would be so rare now and expensive. :c

I don't think it feels like cheating at all. I paid a lot for my amiibo cards and figures.

Having an animal be able to move in as a result of scanning one, is the least I could get for my money.

I have the entire card collection so it would suck if they didn't work in NH. And it's not really cheating since there isn't any competition. People can choose to use them or not. For me, I wouldn't use them until I've experienced a whole year in the game. After that I don't mind starting to move in some faves.

I don't have *all* the amiibo cards, but I bought a bazillion of them. I would buy more if the prices were sane and if I knew I'd be able to use them.

Hopper is my best AC pal. I love having him in my ACNL town and I would love having him on my island. So, I hope that will be possible. I first met Hopper in City Folk, and he had a house down right next to the southern beach on the far right hand side. Since we can tell animals where to put their houses in ACNH, I think it would be so nostalgic to put his house in about the same sort of location.

I was wondering whether or not they would given all the AC amiibo and cards they released.

Nintendo don't really seem that focused on amiibo anymore. Link's Awakening got one and Smash amiibo are still being released, but that feels more like an obligation to finish the roster more than anything. They've not really released any more amiibo on Switch since the release games (BotW, Splatoon 2, Mario Odyssey).

Alongside that there's been less games supporting them and the ones that do are pretty trivial in what happens.

I don't think they have much incentive to keep really supporting amiibo either. I think a lot of people who own a Switch weren't around buying amiibo largely due to the failure of the Wii U, the original 3DS model that most people would have not supporting amiibo and the card reader being difficult to get hold of in many regions. They would probably annoy less fans who bought amiibo during the hype than the amount of people who have picked up a Switch and can't access a bunch of [trivial] content because they have no amiibo, Nintendo barely prints old ones and a lot of them are hard to get hold of for a reasonable price anymore.


SAYING THAT, I would also be surprised if NH doesn't support them. The support for them doesn't have to be much more than "invite specific villager" and with the ridiculous amount of amiibo AC has gotten thanks to cards, it would be the biggest "F' you" to those who have spent a lot of cash on them.

I think they'll have some compatibility, but I don't know if they'll specifically allow you to move in a villager. That may be something you can unlock later once your island is fully developed and you have greater control over it.

I hope so! Even if they don't let you move the villager in, it'd still be nice if they gave you some type of perk!

If so, Nintendo has got to reissue the cards again. It would suck seeing a feature being used rarely at all, especially if they are to decide to put exclusive content there (which I hope they don?t).

I hope that were aloud to use amiibo cards, so then maybe they would start selling the amiibo cards again for a good price.
