So I was wondering if each region will see their own set of Amiibo cards, kinda like region-specic DLC on New Leaf? Making it even harder to collect all of the cards...

Or, will they all be universal and work on all regions like current Amiibo figures do?
It would make sense to do it this way, especially seems I don't know how NFC technology could differentiate between types of cards...

I know I keep bring them up, but based on Animal Crossing e-Reader cards, Japan and NA had separate collections, that differed in quantity and characters... they might :/

My thought is, they're all be the same cards, throughout the world, but it wouldn't surprise me if Japan had different collections to NA and EU...

Thoughts?

Safest bet right now would probably be region free, but considering we have no idea....

Also, of course Japan's will be different. They'll be in Japanese.

Though, this does have me wondering how EU's will work too. Since ALL THEM LANGUAGES.

There might be exclusive amiibo region cards tho but still would work in other regions!
cause there is amiibo exclusive figures! like gold mario, jigglypuff and etc.... from north america that is not for preorder or sale in europa :/

Special variants aside aside, I'm positive you'll get them eventually.

I don't think they will be in Japanese... after all, the cards they used in Nintendo Direct we're in English... unless they have both English and Japanese names on them...

The figures arent region locked so I see no reason why the cards would be locked

Does Japan even get Directs? I forget. But regardless, the directs aren't the same worldwide. North America direct is North America only.

But regardless, mockups aren't that hard to throw together. Especially if the edit is as simple as something like replacing text.

Oh cool! I never seen the Japanese version of the card... Looks cool.
So it's looking like only the language will differ but the design says the same... Unlike what eReader cards were aha.
Coolio ^^

Pretty much like the Amiibo figures, being region-free.

But I dunno, lets wait and see.

Yeah Japan get their own direct. They sometimes air all at the same time. Japan tends to have a bit of extra things in their directs so it's sometimes worth watching them just to make sure. As far as the cards though, they got all the same information we did, which is pretty much none.

I doubt they'll be region locked because the amiibos aren't region locked and they're branding these cards as amiibos, but anything can happen.

I seriously doubt they're region locked. Why? None of the amiibo's are region locked, Murabito works just fine as Villager in American Smash, so why would they start locking them now when they haven't before? Plus, Nintendo of America just imported doubutsu no mori playing cards as one of the rewards you could order- they pitched it as their names in Japanese, when it's really doubutsu no mori cards imported from their parent company. Either way, I have a Japanese 3DS, I'll get the Japaese ones, since it launches in Japan first.

I feel like I would die if I couldn't get a Whitney and Fang amiibo cards.
I bought the game today, and I don't have the scanner and I have a 3ds XL, but like I fell like I'm not gonna get characters I like

I bought all my Amiibo Cards from JP and I'm able to use them in my game here in North America hassle free. The only disadvantage are their names written in Japanese. Otherwise, they're not region locked!
