I'm a gigantic Wolfgang fan. He's so cool, has a great catchphrase, and is generally a sweet guy while also being a cranky ol' wolf. I love it so much!! He was my very first cranky villager so I am veryyyy biased though.

I much prefer Chief for his coloration and general “foxiness”. Wolfgang’s design just has too many colors going on for me.

I prefer Wolfgang’s aesthetic. Also, despite Chief’s rich boy outfit his house interior is a hot mess imo.

Chief by a landslide. He is one of my villagers and I love him. Who cares if his interior is a mess? You’re free to change it if that’s what you want. Either way, I would still go with Chief every time.

I love wolf villagers (but I personally love Lobo above all of them).

Normally, I would pick Wolfgang over Chief only because of the default house interior and exterior. But since we can renovate them now, this choice is kinda pointless.

Design-wise, I prefer cool colors so I'd go with Wolfgang. But hobby-wise, I like Chief because he sings.

Interestingly, Wolfgang's Japanese name is "Lobo", so there's that bias with the name.

I'll always have a soft spot for Chief because he was a starter in my first NL town, but personally, Wolfgang has a cool aura to him that is hard to ignore.

Fang reigns supreme above all the cranky wolves though. Fang is love.

i destroyed his house and make a rustic vacay for him, and that makes me love him more. he also reminded me of someone i know and his design is cute. i also think he's very badass and cool!

Both are pretty cool and I've had both of them in my town at some point in previous games. If it was up to me, I'd pick Wolfgang based on aesthetics. I like the mix of cool and warm colours and also prefer his house and interior over Chief's.

Still have Wolfgang in my New Leaf town, so when I got New Horizons I went through this same dilema between getting Wolf again or switching to Chief...

I guess the difference is going to be aesthetic. Wolfgang has a more relaxed, gloomy vibe with his house and colors. He also has the education hobby I think, so you'll see him reading books and wearing his old man glasses a lot

Chief has a more vibrant color scheme and the music hobby, so he's always singing.
To be honest I actually ended up going with Chief for my NH island because I played Night in The Woods last year and he reminds me of Gregg lol
Also Mr. Fox from Fantastic Mr. Fox! He's very fun to dress up haha

Since you have his amiibo I'd suggest doing a test run? Try him out for a couple days or weeks and if you still feel that itch to change go after Wolfgang! They are both excellent villagers so there's no wrong answer!

Night in The Woods is totally worth checking out for AC fans! The art style is beautiful and all the characters have so much depth ❤ And Gregg totally rulz

Wow this thread really took off. Looks like Chief is in the lead. I really don't know why I made this poll last for so long. XD

My vote goes to Chief. He's one of my favorite villagers, mainly because I like how he looks like a fox rather than a wolf.

Wolfgang is also quite ok, but I find him a bit boring tbh.

Chief and Wolfgang, along with Lobo, are the only three wolf villagers to have appeared in every Animal Crossing game to date. You really can't go wrong with any of them IMO.
