I ended up joining The Bell Tree after I saw that someone had made a thread here and linked to my video on the ACNH manga in Ciao magazine. Now I'm back to post about the CoroCoro manga! The situation is a bit messy because there's also two editions coming up with CoroCoro that also feature ACNH but I'll try my best to explain everything.
Here's my video that goes over everything:
Here's a summary of what I talk about:
This is the June edition of CoroCoro Comic which has the new Animal Crossing New Horizons manga that was originally intended to be a one-shot. It mentions though that because of the popularity of the game starting in the July edition (out 6/15), though it’ll be a serialized story. This edition and the next also feature game tips and custom designs. The July copy will include a poster with the summer fish and bugs as well.
As well, the next edition of CoroCoro Ichiban (out 5/21) is advertised as being the “Animal Crossing edition.” It’s going to have a separate booklet with 4-panel manga by Osaki Ryohei (who did the New Leaf manga for CoroCoro Ichiban years back) and some kind of card game with the Animal Crossing villagers. It doesn’t specify if this 4-panel manga will be serialized or not. The New Leaf one had several volumes so it could go down this path.
The manga is on the short side but fast-paced. I’m interested in seeing how it translates into being a serialized story.
CoroCoro Comic also currently features manga about Kirby, Splatoon, Mario, Zoids, Pokemon, Doraemon, Don’t Sleep Through Life (Chiko-chan), and more. There are several new manga series starting in the July edition including Fortnite.
I’m definitely going to pick up the next CoroCoro Ichiban to get the Animal Crossing card game, the 4-panel manga booklet, and to see what else they have about the game in it. I’ll try to cover that as well and post it here! I’ll see if the July edition of CoroCoro Comic seems worth it or not for me.
Feel free to ask any questions! I'm still trying to get a hang out of the best way to make videos on these... Going through and reading my translation of each panel that I showed was particularly awkward.
