tonight i was playing animal crossing and bc the weather is nice all the windows are open in the house and house is decently quiet, theres the nice summer night smell and sound of crickets coming from the windows and a really nice breeze going through the whole house, and the 1am music is playing, and i got REALLY nostalgic- all the way back to when i played wild world all the time on summer weekends just like this!! and im feeling weirdly melancholy about this. i guess maybe its missing the old days or something. i kinda do miss my old wildworld town, even tho thats the worst animal crossing game imo

it also took me back to one of my best AC memories- in city folk i had a lot of good online friends, i havent quite hung out with people in game like i did back then- on the night of my birthday, i forget how old i was turning? but i didnt really have like... any irl friends. so for my birthday my family had just taken me to the aquarium and let me have my own fun there. when i got home, my ac friends wanted to come over to celebrate my birthday, and i stayed up literally all night playing with them! we told scary stories and played a bunch of games and one who was a hacker made me a bunch of flowers for my birthday which i thought was sweet (id been trying to line my river with blue flowers, a landscaping habit ive kept in every game ive played @@) in the end we actually ended up losing wifi connection but i didnt care because id had so much fun. i remember the night music and the summer smell and the cold night breeze and everything and it made me miss my old animal crossing friends!

does anyone else get nostalgia for their old towns/game experiences from random triggers/scenarios? i just wanted to share my memories and potentially hear other peoples!

I have a lot of nostalgia every time I see Chief. He was one of my first dream villagers of wild world, I got him in ACNL when I first started but it wasn't the same somehow. Still, I can remember such fond memories of making friends with him. The personalities were just so much fuller in previous games. Cranky villagers were very standoff with you, so I loved making best friends with him and seeing him change towards me.

I played Wild World so much that just the theme tune makes me really nostalgic for the game. I used to have a scratch/mark on my screen from pressing the little arrow at the bottom of Villager's text boxes all the time. I have particularly fond memories of ordering full furniture sets for my friends in an attempt to get them to decorate "properly". I'm not sure why I was fixated on that, but oh well.

Slightly later on I spent quite a bit of time playing with far-away friends over the wii, and later on the 3ds. I particularly remember one night where I stayed up until about 5AM playing, and we were on a skype call at the time (no video) so we could chat without using the AC chat function which was way easier. We mostly just played hide & seek in town and talked. I got up the next day and there was this huge summer thunderstorm and we chatted again until they had to go.

Part of me still defaults to my old town layout sometimes, so I end up running for bridges that aren't there. Even though I've been playing New Leaf since it came out. ... Oops.
