A love/marriage system is the biggest thing that seperates Animal Crossing from Harvest Moon. I don't play much of AC (though I have found Harvest Moon to be quite a fun game), but both games have their charms and I wouldn't want to see one turning into the other. And the main character marrying one of the animals would be really creepy. O_O

Side note: Harvest Moon isn't too appealing, because they usually have seperate "boy" and "girl" versions. Why didn't they allow you to be a girl in the first place?

If you get marride in Animal crossing it wouldn't be like animal crossing! It would ruin the whole game! Not just saying this because i love harvest moon, if you could get marride it would be more like harvest moon.

Well, if an animal in your town married another of the same species, that'd be ok, but not the main (human) character. ^^;

I disagree on that really that would make more complicated relationships and yet that would ruin the concept..it would change the concept to a "Hello-Kitty image" worse yet a "Valentines day in a high school image High School Musical concept" >_< .
Besides this is a video game not a dating thing...
