From what we've seen so far, this seems to be an animal house, not a players house. It's missing a mailbox and it has a name sign under the window! It begs the question: Do animals place furniture outside and create their own little yard? Or do you think was just done by the person playing?

It would be so awesome if they were really so creative with their yards like this! Or what if they asked the player to help them decorate themselves a little yard? That would be so cute!! What do you guys think?

Sorry if this has been pointed out before! Any tiny bits of speculation or ideas excite me cuz I'm so obsessed lol.

it would be adorable if each animal had their own customised yard, i look forward to seeing it

I really hope it's the player that decorates the outside, as villagers tend to ruin themes when you try to get them to place a certain item in their house, or wear a certain shirt, and they don't do it.

Left to their own devices to decorate, could have disastrous results. O_O

I like having a themed town, so I hope the villagers ask us what we think they should place outside.

That's just me though. ^_^

I'd love to be able to customize a villager's yard myself, as I might try and go with a certain theme for my island and the villager could place some items outside that didn't fit very well with my theme.

It would be cute if villagers could do their own yards, but I'd like to be able to change how they looked if I didn't like it.

I feel that it may be our decorations, but I hope each house maybe has a base yard included with their house? The reason why I think it is the former is because it would take up a larger amount of space and may be hard to place initially.

Like others have said, I hope we get to give the villagers input on what they should place in their yards. I can imagine that if the villager ran out of room inside their house, they would eventually start to decorate the yard, but I think it would wind up being mostly shirts and random collectibles and junk.

I could imagine that villagers decorating their yard on their own, maybe using items that representing their personality (like jock villagers having more sport related items for example). And if we are able to design them too, maybe it's important to rise up your friendship with a villager first, so that said villager will trust you more with your "designer skills" and allow you then to decorate the yard for them. At least it would be nice if it would be like that.

Ah yes, I am quite excited to see the yard of someone's void villager that is filled to the brim with fish and insects in display cages as the previous host of the villager just wanted the picture before sending the villager on their way. Hopefully, we can do something like file a city ordinance violation to change what items a villager has on display in their yard. If they do have yards, I fully anticipate that this area will be entirely unmodifiable by the player. With any luck, items will have internal attributes that determine whether or not they are reasonable to be placed outdoors, This would prevent a lot of faux pas like displaying insects / fish outdoors, or couches, or dining room tables, etc. These attributes would double as useful for the Happy Home Academy as well, who will dock you points for placing items outdoors that really don't belong.

I think that would be an amazing addition, and it would bring even more life to each island! I really hope that's gonna be a thing, even though, at the end of the day the villagers might end up having a terrible looking yard because of all their weird object-replacing habits.

I think all of these are placed by the player. I would value the odds of villagers being able to decorate outside their home by placing objects to be under 5%.

The main thing is, they need to end the practice of them filling the insides with junk. Especially if they're going to adopt the Pocket Camp system of doing favors for animals (which, maybe they're not). I will not be able to play this game if regular gameplay like that means their houses are filled with fossils and fish and other junk like in the earlier games. In New Leaf, I could just stop giving items. But, if it's a big part of it like in PC? That is certainly one thing I never missed in PC.

I keep on thinking about Norma who put the oven with the opening against a wall. o_O

Please, God. Let us decide where things go. ^_^

Oh heck! Didn't even notice that! That's really cute~ <3

I hope the villagers don’t place items outside :( I used to hate it when they would plant flowers in random places, I would watch them do it and immediately dig them up...

Hopefully it'll either remain unchanged (gifting villagers throw away items won't affect the layout) or it'll work the same way as with Happy Home where you can customize each villager's home exterior in some way. I wonder if lining up villager's home through plot reset will look odd now that their homes will take up more space.

I hope the player gets to decide. Lol I don?t want my villagers putting random furniture out that I don?t like. If they do hopefully it?s like the flowers they put down in new leaf and we can change it.

I like having the freedom to design their yards. It would bother me if they started decorating random things in their yard that cannot be changed.

I think it'll probably be like villagers houses and be tailored to their style. I think we may get to give them advice though? Like a villager will probably have a dilemma and will ask for help or say can you just do something with my yard please! Make it look like it belongs on this island...
I think they'll have to really be able to trust is if we're allowed free customisation so it'll prolly take a little time to unlock this feature, depending on how much you've achieved ok your island :p
