My animated avatar vanished yesterday and I get this message when I try to upload it: You may not upload animated images.

I paid 10 seashells recently for the animation. It's in my inventory in the shop. Please restore my ability to upload my dancing Elmo. Thank you.

The same thing has always happened to me. I bought the animation around 2-3 years ago, I think. Never got to use it. I just figured I was doing something wrong and gave up on it. I hope you get your Elmo back! I enjoyed it

Make sure the item is marked as "active" in your inventory, and try uploading the image to an external hosting site like imgur.com and inserting the link rather than using the site uploader. Also, make sure the image is 100x100 pixels or smaller or it'll lose the animation when you upload.

There's no way for us to manually restore your ability to use the item, unfortunately. Just make sure the item is active and the image is being uploaded correctly and it should work!

Thank you, Oblivia! I had the image stored on my computer and it uploaded when I changed the animation avatar in my inventory from hidden to active, just as you suggested. Elmo is back!

Can you guys make it where it automatically resizes it?

With .gifs specifically, that'd be a recipe for disaster in terms of compression and aspect ratio warping. I personally don't know if it'd be possible to add something like this to the vBulletin avatar uploader, but it's not something we have any plans to research.

Instead of resizing the image, resize the html class or id of the image.

Because that would be a waste of server space, a waste of bandwidth in every thread, and a waste of time changing vBulletin for something that already has a relatively simple solution.
