So this is random but lately I've been experimenting with other mediums besides digital because I miss doing things traditionally.
I've recently been inspired by art youtubers to delve into acrylic painting. There's one artist in particular 'Drawingwithwaffles' who painted on her illo sketchbook's cover and I just thought it was such a nifty and cool idea and wanted to give it a try, since it's sort of like personalizing it.
Since I'm a beginner and really just experimenting overall, I wanted to try out apple barrel's acrylics for a start, which are sold at Walmart in inexpensive packs. I've heard they're not the best nor worst but I figured it's more for trial than anything. I already have loads of brushes from over the years from wanting to learn watercoloring ( and being too cowardly to try ) , so I'm set in brushes...
My question is... I'm looking it up everywhere and I guess for some reason things aren't clicking in my peanut brain..
I'd like to use a paint on varnish if at all possible but I just can't grasp which is best for acrylic paint work? I've read reviews and nothing as left me feeling any wiser.
Is there any paint on acrylic varnish that my fellow artist would recommend that Walmart may sell?
TL;DR - First time getting into painting with acrylic paints. Despite looking it up, don't understand varnishes or what's best. Going to Walmart today to pick stuff up. Help?
Edit: Also do I have to apply more than one varnish...?? Like a varnish before and after? I'm so dumb I just don't understandddddd. I just wanted sealant so that the paint wouldn't chip
