I'm looking at other people's art done from when they were / are the same age as me, and it's 100x better than mine...

I'm considered a good artist at my school, I'm not boasting lmao and when I draw, people are like "you are so good at drawing, Lani," and yeah, that's nice to hear that, and thanks....but honestly, I look at what I've drawn and I think: wtf is wrong with you, how do you think this is good?

Does anyone else just feel like..."omfg why am i so **** at art"? xD
I've tried practicing a load, and I've kinda got my own style but I just still can't draw...I can't get to grips with my tablet either, but even if I could, the pen pressure doesn't even work.......bsdjfbjds

(I apologise for this unnecessary / ranty thread, but I'd probably feel better if I knew other people felt the same as me aha...idfk sorry)

OMG YES

like there's so many amazing artists all over the internet (not just on here) and i'm just like... well... i can't even draw people facing sideways DX

Omg yeah, I've tried drawing all these angles and omg....no one should see what I drew

I feel you xD

My digital art is horrid (as you've seen LOL) so I know what it's like. My traditional coloured pencil/graphite, on the other hand, is pretty good, but I've been practicing it for years and I literally just learned about digital art (like the stuff sold here on TBT) just within a year or so. So yeah... in a way I feel you. Some things just aren't meant to be, and sometimes you just need a ****ton of practice to even think of yourself as decent.

Before you quit or continue practicing, ask yourself if you really enjoy it? Are you just gonna do it to earn virtual money/fame? Or do you enjoy the process of making it, and do you enjoy the journey it takes you on? Listen to your heart before you step on any paths, and remember, Rome wasn't built within a day.

Don't give up on something just because you think it's crap or if others think it's crap if you actually enjoy it. If you don't enjoy it, even if others think it's nice, then stop if that's what ya want.

Ahh thanks for the response <3
And I don't actually remember seeing your art o_O show meh

And I do enjoy drawing a lot...I just often get put off by the outcome x3

Always. That's why I aim to improve.

But don't stress too much if you feel your art is bad. (God I'm a hypocrite lmao).

Sometimes your perception of what good art is improves faster than your ability to draw, so you can see more of the mistakes that you're making while not having the ability to actually fix them properly. That's a really good thing though, because once you hit this point, you'll start to improve much quicker than you usually would because of how easily you spot the mistakes.

This is actually where a lot of people get frustrated and give up or say they have art block. If you can power through this and just draw, even if it's just like once a day or something, then you'll be a significantly better artist for it. This is why Evvie improved sooooo drastically - she powered through those moments probably.

Me XD
No matter how hard I try, everything I draw looks like a potato with hair.

stop comparing yourself to other people and practice even more than you already do for a start

I don't do art, can't stand drawing, but even if I wanted to I couldn't. My hands are too twitchy to draw, so even if I draw it looks like a joke picture.

My fARTs are just a chicken scratching with lead on their claws. No joke.

It's also so extremely frustrating. I always have the perfect image in my head of what I want to draw, my hands are constantly egging me on to draw something, ANYTHING, but whenever I do I get so mad every time because it never turns out what I want it to be. If there's one thing I wish, I wish it was that I could actually draw because I would be able to draw myself icons, draw stuff for my friends, and maybe even get money doing art. I'm just so sad.
