I feel like I'm having a really hard time laying things out, everything is too small for these houses and I'm having a hard time kicking villagers out. Do you guys have these problems? What do you do to fix them?

I definitely find myself wishing the island was bigger, and I'm still only at five villagers. I'm honestly not sure how I'll fit ten in without completely rearranging what I've done ;-;

Since you can move basically everything except for the airport and the residence services, I'm not to worry atm, I'm just putting everything together and once I have an idea of what I want, I will start planning my town.

I believe the island only feels small because of being restricted from placing things on upper elevations.

My house, Resident Services, Nook's Cranny, Museum, the campsite and 5 villager houses only occupy 2/6 of my island.

Some of the time, yeah. Most recently I can’t seem to perfectly position a bridge in the middle. It’s always noticeably more to the right or left side.

Once you can move villagers' houses, you'll find you have a lot more room. I also used Island Designer to straighten out my river, which cleared up a ton of space. It was ridiculous how big and winding it was!

I haven't quite reached that point yet. I just got the town hall and the prices for relocating are kinda hefty. (30000 to move my house, 50000 to move the museum etc)

So I'm probably going to wait until I have more villagers before I make any final decisions on layout. Focus on building some bridges first.

it will be better once i have terraforming (i hope)

I actually removed everything from my town, water, cliffs, all of it. Still feels really small.

See that's great, but it's just TOO expensive!

Yeah I feel like that too, but even with removing everything in my town (cliffs, rivers, just to have a clean slate) it still feels small to me....

That's your map in your signature? I love it! I did something very similar with my villager houses (same side too!) But mine don't look as nicely spaced as yours at all.

I haven't even unlocked terraforming yet, I can already see this is going to be a problem for me. And some people wanted 15-25 villagers on their map :O

I'm not putting in bridges or slopes until I unlock terraforming.
I don't see the point in me adding either when my island is going to be going through a lot of changes.
