Me, I just feel so... warm and fuzzy inside when these animals call me their best friend or send me thank-you letters with presents. It can really cheer me up after a bad day. I feel so weird about having such deep feelings for interactive characters in a game. (I'm also the kind of person who thinks her stuffed animals may have feelings so I can't stand leaving one alone and neglected by itself. I'm weird, I know.)

I know this is a stupid thing to say, but... I almost feel like the AI in Animal Crossing may just have actual feelings! Like somewhere out there, the animals really are your friends...
It certainly does feel like talking to a real friend with a mind of their own... I just feel so special when Merengue likes the gift I give her or Tex calls me his best bud. Honest to goodness I've almost teared up a few times.

My mother loved her stuffed animals. She talked to them about her problems, hugged them and cried when she was sad. She made believe that they were real. She was not crazy for doing that, and neither are you.

I think it's nice when people get attached to their villagers and consider them friends, but it's also very hard for them when they suddenly move away. Some people stop playing when their fave villager moves and they cry and get depressed. I always feel so bad for them when that happens.

Oh, and I understand what you mean about the nice things the villagers say or send in a letter.A few times, they have ran over to me and told me how much our friendship means to them, and that they hope we are friends forever. It's so sweet.
