How do you make it so the colours arent just flat colours? I know you gotta add different shades and that but how do you know?
I know how to shade the cat ears and that but the rest I have no idea how you even know?

Sorry newbie here :')

I like this art tutorial for seeing colour differently! It's a little old but pretty good :D It blew my mind ahah

Some other thingys: try not to use black or white and changing the opacity to shade/highlight stuff - i find that makes colours look flat.

I like to use red/yellow/green/purple when shading or adding highlights! :D
Using a colour more than once also gives the picture more unity.

if that makes sense? :x

^^^ Ohhhh I see, yeah. It does make sense, Ill have to try that
Thanks for linking a video really appreciate it!

Do you use Photoshop? They have a lot of really great tools that can make your shadings/colourings look a lot better.

No I dont- ive tried it but not too keen on it. Id rather use it to edit pictures etc. Ill give it another shot though see what I think about it again. Thanks

just remember to avoid going towards the gray scale on the color wheel. it just doesnt look very appealing, and im assuming your signature was drawn by you. it looks like youre limiting yourself in terms of color selection. dont be afraid to go outside the base color, like use purple for shading and neon blue for highlights. just remember to make sure they all blend together well, use the water tool for that. yamio has a great coloring tutorial as well
