Are some Gyroids more rare than others?

Thanks to trading, I was able to complete my Gyroid collection, but even though I've gotten about 80 Gryoids so far (with my four characters) there are still some I've never found myself, like the Oinkoid, while I've gotten about eight Thwopoids. Is it just luck, or are some rarer? Or do different islands have some that are more common? Maybe there are some people who have found a lot of Oinkoids and no Thwopoids?

If it’s not just random, I’d suspect that the probabilities differ from island to island. I have about 20 gyroids and many duplicates already; my partner has a similar number but totally different duplicates. I doubt any of them are overall more rare across all players, but each island may have its own common and rare ones.

It's just luck. You have equal odds of getting any given type of gyroid.
