Ok maybe no one is gonna respond, and this is kinda random, but I'm seriously wondering.... where the **** do Japanese people food shop?

I mean in Tokyo I couldn't find any supermarkets anywhere (apart from like Lawson's and Family Mart, and you can't do a whole proper food shop there) so where the hell do you guys go? x'D

I've Googled like "where do Japanese people shop" and "Japanese supermarkets" but all that keeps coming up are combinis such as 7/11

This is a dumb question, but I'm still wondering haha....oh welp

It's highly unlikely you would have seen any large supermarkets in a huge city anyway. Big supermarkets tend to be more out of town. Although I don't know the name of any places myself so I can't help you on that one! :'D

When I lived there I went grocery shopping at Aeon Mall. There are grocery stores in Japan, lol.

Edit: They also have Costco.

What? There's grocery stores everywhere, you're just not going to have them in like, the middle of Shibuya, but where people live.

Tokyu Store, Seiyu, Itoyokado, My Basket, AEON, Olympic, Maruetsu.. the list goes on. Almost every decent-szied shopping center/department store has a grocery section in the basement, too.

when i was in new york i didnt see any big grocery stores either, only 7/11s and small convinence stores. tho im still pretty sure they have grocery stores in new york. it is probably just that as a tourist you dont go to those places and there arent a lot of big grocery stores in prime locations in big cities hhah. usually the bigger ones are a bit further out from the city centre

I have never lived in Japan, but my Grandfather and his parents "were Japanese."

My cousins have visted Japan and they tell shopped at places like; AEON and Rakuten.
