are username changes still bugged?

I've been holding onto a username change for ages now waiting for periods to work.
do admins have enough permissions to add them into usernames so I can just change my name to what I want without the period and get an admin to add it in on my behalf or .. do I still gotta wait some more ; v;

I remember Jake got his period removed when he became a moderator. I wonder if they disabled them completely after that.

it doesn't seem to be disabled completely because there's a new member in the introductions board with a period in their username. i'm assuming it's only with username changes then?

There's currently an issue with the system when it comes to name changes if they involve a space or symbol of any kind. We're working on a fix for this, but for the time being they'd have to be changed manually by an admin if you want anything more than standard text.

I'm happy to do it for you as long as the desired name isn't in use, just PM me the username you'd like after you change it to the version without the period.

ahh -- I tried but it said it was taken, even though I had checked that it was free or at least that no username matches came up. I know for sure that the period version is free but the non period version might be taken even though its not showing up? iunno anymore urg

When I was selecting my username when I joined this site, I tried Murabito, but it was already taken. So I did Murabito with a period at the end, which, obviously worked
