Are you done your critterpedia?

It never was a goal for me to finish collecting bugs and fish as I never finished in new leaf but I am so determined to collect them all and I am so close to having all the fish. I still have alot of the bugs to collect :(

I have finished collecting the art and fossils

I have not fully completed my critter pedi a in all sections. I missed my chance getting a golden trout again, I’m struggling to find other fish like the mahi mahi, rare beetles barely show up, and that sea creatures are a little bit of a pain to complete but is more manageable to be fair.

After buckling down and managing to get tons of fish bait via trades for the past month or so, I finally finished catching all the fish just a few days ago. And, man, did it feel good! I have a few sea creatures and several bugs left, but bugs are definitely the hardest to catch for me...

I'm not finished yet, but I'm getting pretty close. Especially with the deep sea creatures. I do want to complete my critterpedia because I never managed to in New Leaf- I wasn't really interested in doing so back then.

I took some pictures of my progress if anyone cares:

I'm getting there, I just need to find the motivation to actually catch bugs, go fishing and go diving. I also think I will end up time travelling to catch stuff, just to make it go a bit faster. Excited to have my museum complete some day though!

Surprisingly yes, considering my general disinclination to ‘grind’ for anything in the game. Tried it a few times to get the barrel eye and string fish, but did not like endlessly making and using bait, or spending too much time just fishing. What worked for me was 1 - going to a mystery island (for the string fish and a couple of the beetles) (after which I inevitably immediately found them on my island as well, naturally), and 2 - random blind luck. After half heartedly trying to catch a barrel eye I gave up a bunch, then one night saw a random small fish and decided to catch it on a whim - I think this is how I got all the pier fish too.

so basically, if I can do it, really truly anyone can, who wants to. I recommend to all those struggling to just take try and take the pressure off, remember you have time. Rng has a perverse sense of when you are really trying to get it to go in your favor, I think. It is a cruel mistress.

also the mystery islands, like everyone is saying, they really do make it so much easier.

I’m in no rush to complete my encyclopedias. Recently I used 200 bait on the giant trevally and still couldn’t find it. It’s my last fish to catch. My last insect is the walking stick. I never even saw one in game yet.

i definitely want to finish all my encyclopaedias, yes! originally my goal was to finish them all before i reset my island, but i'd missed a lot of summer bugs and some fish just wouldn't appear no matter how much fish bait i used so i just ended up resetting with a few gaps in my encyclopaedias. on this island i definitely want to try and finish them all though, hopefully i'll be a bit more consistent with my catching so i'll be able to complete them within a year of having this island!

I just reset my game and learned that apparently June is a busy month. Managed to catch like 45 fish in the past week. That’s more than half my critterpedia fish.

The summer is the best for this.
Its why I don't miss tortimers island
It was always in summer so you got so many bugs and fish it was crazy. It reduced the playtime of the game by 3 months!

yes! i completed my critterpedia back in march with the vampire squid and spider crab. i’m a completionist so i’d been aiming to complete my critterpedia since day one aha. i didn’t have too hard of a time with catching critters but the golden trout, mahi-mahi and giant trevally were a bit of a pain in the ass lol. i don’t really have any advice other than to make sure that you know what size shadow you’re looking for and to have fish bait with you since that’ll help speed up the process. as for bugs, i highly recommend using a bamboo nm island for stag/horned beetle hunting! i was able to catch the giant and giraffe stags this way the last two summer bugs that i needed and it was way easier than using my own island would’ve been! good luck and congrats on catching all of the sea creatures!! 🥳

I’m mostly done other than a couple of fish that are just obnoxiously difficult to catch. I spent 5hr of real time trying to catch the Mahi Mahi last summer and I do not have the patience, strength or desire to try again this summer.

I haven't yet, if I hadn't reset my island a couple times I probably would've completed it. I'm very close to completing the deep sea creatures section, I think I only need four more, and I'm gradually working towards the bugs and fish.

I just started seriously working on it and I have a long way to go on all of them. I was reading a post on here about hitting 100 critters and it opening the rest, and wow was that true! Hit 100 different ones yesterday and the amount of new critters is crazy!! Shout out to whoever posted that!

After a ton of time travel, all I need to finish my Critterpedia are the Scorpion and Coelacanth, which I'll track down at my leisure now.

I finished the fish and sea creatures. Just need a Scorpion for the bugs and I'm done. They're such rare spawns though. Every time I've found one I've literally ran right into it and got stung. Really need to stop running on my island at night, lol.

Been going to Nook islands but no luck. Just keep getting the same common islands.

Any tips for this Scorpion stalker? I really want to finish that museum. 🦂

I still have sea creatures to finish, then I'll be done. I should check, because there might be one available now, so I should get to it before July.

I think I also have 8 or so art pieces to donate, and my museum will be complete!

Just one more bug, the giraffe stag. I'm not looking forward to it cuz I spent a lot of time last year searching both on my own island & the mystery islands and have yet to see one.

And now I have the dreaded joy-con drift on my switch lite so that's gonna be fun trying to sneak up on one lol.

Don't run around with the net after 7 p.m. I too like to run around everywhere, but without the net they won't sting you and usually I had time to get my net out & catch them before they disappear.

Yeah, I finished the bugs, fish and deep sea critters. I'm kind of sad I collected everything and I don't grind, I just enjoy catching stuff.

So now I'm just catching three of each and making models. I hope we can one day make deep sea creature models.

I really don't care anymore. I finished it on my old island Traverse and all I got was just a Golden Net and Golden Rod. Right now I am not really focused on that anymore seeing that I know what the outcome is and its not going to be worth my time.

I finished my critterpedia on my main island with my island rep. I have not finished it with the alt on that island or either of my characters on my second island. I will finish it with them eventually. Not in any hurry to finish it with them.
