Ask Me Anything: US Marine

Favorite kinds of movies?

I'd travel to Europe honestly. So much history and i think it'd be amazing. I'm in Japan right now and going to Korea later on.

Honestly I've always wanted to join since I was a little kid. I remember seeing 9/11 play on the TV as it was happening. I didn't really understand it then, but I always wanted to do my part and make the world a better place and protect those that can't do it themselves.

Animal Crossing of course, but I also enjoy Mario Kart although I don't own it. I usually play Xbox, Nintendo doesn't have the selection of games I would enjoy sadly.

So... In elementary/middle school, when we would be assigned to create/draw cards for those in service.

Have you/anyone you know actually received one (and look at them)? XD

My old platoon actually did receive letters from some kids, it was pretty cool, sadly I didn't get one because I got moved to a different company. But it was sweet. They wrote back to the kids as well. :)

As long as it's not violating opsec of course.

How was basic training, and how old were you when you went in? Why did you go, and do you have any regrets doing so? Did you cry during basic training? Are you currently going to school as well? I have a couple buddies in the military, one in the Navy and the other in the Coast Guard, I just love hearing why people are interested in going in and their experiences doing so.

Boot camp was awesome, I loved it. I was 18 years old. And I always wanted to enlist in the Marines, I never wanted anything else. Marines have a reputation for being some of the most bada** guys around, and I wanted that. So I became one. The only regret I really have is leaving my family. I knew it was really hard on my mom especially, but my parents are so proud and supportive it's amazing. The only time I cried was at the end of the Crucible.

We climbed to the top of this mountain, everyone was exhausted after getting this 54 hour event. You only got six or seven hours of sleep and three meals to last you 2.5 days. It sucked. Anyway, as we got to the top of the mountain you could see the sun rising above the clouds in the distance behind the American and Marine flag and we sang the Marine's Hymn. Then I was called Marine for the first time. I cried. A lot of people did.

And I'm not going to school right now, unfortunately I'm too busy to do that really, and I don't have tuition assistance yet. I will get TA in September though, so maybe I'll try getting some classes done.

I'm planning on getting a commission into the Air Force or Coast Guard after college actually.

Probably Easter to be honest. I love it because the flowers are blooming and everything just feels so happy.

You can ask me about my job too.
