Hello everyone,

I had a villager whom I greatly dislike move into my town on July 6th. I introduced myself, then for about two weeks I hit him with the net, pushed him around, and shoved him into pitfalls.

Then, I watched a video that said the best way to get a villager to move out was actually to completely ignore them instead! They said that pushing/hitting was counter-productive. Oops!

So I stopped hitting him and I've just completely been ignoring him since. For approximately 10 weeks I haven't spoken to him, gone into his house, hit him with the net, nothing. The only interaction we had was once he came to order coffee when I was working, but nothing else.

And yet... He still won't leave. Three months is a really long time to put up with a villager I hate seeing around... :(

Any advice? Seriously, anything at all would help! I'm desperate at this point.

Thank you for taking the time to read this!

All the best,

~Cat

Bump! With an unrelated Merengue sketch that I did last night~

Personally, I think it's random. I've had newer villagers decide to move out while older villagers haven't asked once. Sometimes I time-travel (though this is risky) and villagers would ping me to move. I think there are some guides around the boards that may be able to help you with your situation if you take a look around. :)

Thanks for responding! I've done some looking around the forums, and most people recommend time traveling, but I'm not very comfortable with that because I'm worried about losing my favorite villagers, and my fancy flowers! :(
I hope he doesn't stick around too much longer... going on four months! SIGH~

I honestly find that completely ignoring a villager doesn't help either. Talk to him sparingly, not like ten times a day but even just once or twice every other day.

I find all this "ingnoring" does not work, I speak to the villager I want to leave just a few times a day. Few days later and bam they want to go.

Yep, I agree with Twilight Sparkle... it works.

Time-travelling is the most efficient technique I've used and you won't lose you faves, just tell them not to go when they ping to move. Your flowers just need to be watered, or have the 'Keep Beautiful' Ordinance so none of your flowers wilt.

You cant ignore them after you talk to them. If you dont like them dont even introduce yourself and it ups the chance of them leaving. If you've talked to them and hit them/harassed them they will NOT leave, only way out now is to become 'best friends' do their requests and talk to them the most every day, and build up your friendship. When it gets close to when they will give you a picture frame the game will prompt them to request to move. Your best friends have higher chances of moving.

I've done this with one villager and am working on one I really hate.... which is harder since I harassed him so much his friendship meter was probably at like -234% or something...

Moving works kind of like a lotto I think, some villagers will have a higher chance of being chosen if they have had good interactions or you haven't acknowledged their existence.

Ignoring/hitting them never works for me. I've found that if I befriend the villager, they want to move out faster. I had Kid Cat as a starter, and he just did not want to leave when I ignored him, so I started talking to him and about a week later, he asked to move. Same with Tammy and countless others I've had and not liked.

I think it is random. Marcie finally decided to move out of town after 3 months a few days ago, yet I had a villager who moved out after a week. I don't think talking/ignoring them has an effect.

Make a new character, introduce the villager (whom u hate or want to kick him out)
then wait for one week, until an animal will toggle "!!" sign

when an animal or villager is out you have to delete a character.
Hope it helps

Pinky's been in my town since mid-July, I got her picture, and she STILL won't move. Hugh got here like a week ago and tried to leave yesterday!

I did get on okay with Robin, not best friends, and I spoke to her a few times a day probs. Then, I decided I didn't like her. I ignored her, and pushed her into pitfalls, no hitting with nets. After not too long she suddenly pinged and decided to move. Just make sure you don't speak to them after the decision and the time they are 'in boxes', as they could change their mind!

I've tried all the methods people have posted on YouTube and here and in general online and I've found that it really is completely random, however ignoring does not work. I have a second town (I've had it for over 2 months) that I do time travel (a lot) in and the villagers that ping me seem to be completely random. However if I'm "ignoring" someone they don't seem to ever want to move.

Time travelling doesn't work better, it just speeds up the entire process. You will be safe if you only go one day at a time and every four days you go around and talk to /everyone/. See who pings you, and if no one pings then talk to multiple villagers multiple times to see who's thinking of moving.

Feel free to message me if you want my method more indepth, I've been doing it for months and have never lost a villager that I didn't want to loose.

Having managed to cycle my town 16 villagers through (in just over two weeks using TT), the move out is entirely random. The more villagers you want to keep the more that the ones you don't want to move will ping. Not talking to them causes them to have a 'haven't talked to you in forever' dialogue and they won't move in spite of you not talking to them. Talk to them like you would your favourite villagers, maybe not to when they tell you to stop talking.. but a couple times a day.. do the odd task, and I found it self-satisfactory to tell them all the negatives to their answers to make them feel sad.. like if villager asks how outfit is.. say the ugly option.. invited over house.. say you don't like it. It might not make them move faster due to it being random, but you'll get some satisfaction of being mean to them. I took to enjoying going up right behind them with the megaphone and calling their name.. but yeah it is random, but don't go ignoring them.

Ignoring them DOES work, but that's only one part of it... you also need to make sure you chat to every other villager but them on a regular basis. Do that every day and they'll be gone within a week, it works EVERY time for me. :D You don't need to chat to every villager in town every day, but certainly everyone you cross paths with or see around the shops etc. Sending letters to everyone but the shunned villager helps too. Be sure not to do any jobs which involve any interaction with them, eg delivering gifts, petitions, lost items.

It might take longer if they're on a high friendship level with you but they should still be gone soon. If you think you're especially good friends with someone it might be worth researching lowering your friendship level and do that before the ignoring process.

Also don't speak to them if they "PING!" at you a week later thinking they're gonna tell you they're moving, it's too risky. The other animals will tell you when they're gonna leave. "I heard a rumour so and so is leaving, you might want to talk to them about it" That's the only time you should go and speak to them.

Just confirming with my last post that making friends with them DOES work. It ups their chances of being chosen for moving. A villager I've been trying to get rid of for ages just requested to move, after about 2 weeks of friendship (helpped with a few days time travel)

Also with time travelling its safe to go day by day if you run around and chat up your villagers each time to make sure the ones you wanna keep dont leave. Just doing LONG time skips will negate their trying to notify you.

I fell ya Ive have Ankha for over 2 weeks and i ignored her since she was in boxes (I only interduce my self) She won't move!
