In the future, I'd like to some auctions. Only thing is, I'm not exactly sure how to do so. I know there's a starting bid, highest bid, but there's also a snipe guard...or something... o_O

If someone could explain how to set up / run an auction, I would really appreciate it! ^.^

starting bid is a number (ex: 100tbt) that someone has to start with. like someone will start off the auction saying "SB"

highest bid is also a number (ex: 500tbt) that's also like a buyout. whoever bids with highest bid automatically gets whatever you're auctioning

snipe guard is when you extend the auction if no one has offered buyout (might be wrong so idk)

And don't forget a minimum increase. You sometimes see it in an auction; it's so everyone has to increase the current bid by a certain amount, to ensure it doesn't stay low. It's not always added in all auctions though.

isn't a highest bid like updating the thread title with the highest amount someone has bid? like:
thread title HB: the highest amout bid

and buyout is an amount of BTB higher than the starting bid (but not a crazy amount) and whoever does buyout gets the thing that is being auctioned, but it isn't necessary to have. it can just be n/a

I dunno, I may be wrong lol o: I just had a look at a couple threads with the auction prefix in tbt marketplace

And the minimum increase is also there to make sure people aren't endlessly bidding 1 BTB above the other and avoid unnecessary spam in the bidding thread.

"snipe guard" is when somebody wants to protect the people that have been bidding all along by preventing a "sniper" coming in at the last minute and "stealing" the auction. some people do this by saying only previous bidders can make new bids in the final 30 minutes, others say that the deadline gets extended by 30 minutes for example if a new bidder shows up during the original final 30 minutes before deadline. I'm not sure how effective any of these guards have proven to be.

"buyout" means the amount that immediately ends the auction-- sometimes it IS a pie-in-the-sky price from what i've seen.

but I think all you're required to have is an end date. however-- i've noticed some people don't list an end date or change it-- anybody know what's allowed in this regard??

There has to be an end date and you can only change it if no bids have been placed (that's what it says in the rules but nobody cares :D)
