So as we all saw, terraforming is a thing now and I absolutely love it. However, I'm really scared to experiment with this item bc what if I mess up and the game already auto-saved. So now I'm stuck with the mistake or have to fix it somehow.

I'm sure auto-saving will be helpful in many cases, especially if the game randomly decides to crash, but I feel like i can't experiment as much with my town. Idk about yall but I've always restarted if I made a big mistake with something, so having that option was a good thing. idk maybe I'm overthinking it and everything will be alright??

are you guys worried about this or is it just me?

T-there's autosave? I have never liked autosave in any sort of game and having it in Animal Crossing will definitely be something to get used to, I guess... I'm not excited about it :c

Not really worried about it, honestly I think its a useful feature for the Animal Crossing series.

Games with auto-save aren't constantly auto-saving. They need some sort of flag programmed into it to force an auto-save. Usually auto-saves are flagged at transitions. When you are entering or exiting an area is one example of this.

If you're hanging out on your map terraforming, I don't see it suddenly auto-saving on you and forcing you to be stuck with something unexpectedly. Video games are usually pretty obvious when they're autosaving because if you turn off the console during a save, it could corrupt your file. You'll quickly learn what triggers it.

Yeah it's a feature that I was hoping would be optional.

Well said. There will be a way around it for sure.

It seems like you can always just terraform back to the original state. From the looks of the direct you can build and demolish. I feel like very little of this game is permanent. We should be ok.

i'm hoping that the autosave is optional like in pokemon sword and shield.

I'm not sure if auto save was confirmed but I don't mind it. We can fix terraforming and if we get stuck, we can use the rescue team.

i thought it was supposed to be optional but now that i think about it i have no idea where i heard it, so i might just be lying. but it would suck to mess up your town by accident and then having it being auto saved.

I'm not sure. Games definitely can auto save with timers and not triggers. If Nintendo uses triggers instead of timers, they can be aggressive about it and make it save everytime you complete a craft, enter a building, make a purchase, or exit terraforming mode, and more.

Its optional. Dont have the screenshot but I remember there being a "press - for autosave options" sort of thing on the main menu or something.

Seriously?
Autosave in NH is optional?

If that's true you've just made my YEAR! :)

I feel like auto save is probably optional. If not I don't mind it...unless villagers can change their minds about moving again lol. Then i will mind. New leaf i was able to reset if they decided to not move...so I will be kinda upset if that happens and I can't reset.

Auto saves don't bother me too much, as I know I could get used to them if I need to, but if there is an option to turn it off, then I will most likely do that. I do understand though what other people say about if you make a mistake and it auto saves on you, it can be hard to fix. So hopefully we can turn it off.

If the game is auto saving in intervals, you'll have a small window depending on how big of a mistake you're making, but you should be able to press the Home button, and then kill the game.

So If you spend 15-30 minutes terraforming, and decide you want to revert, you may be out of luck.
If a villager you hate tells you they are moving, and you say "Bye", and then they reply "WHAT!? I'm staying then", just quit using the method above.

Most likely Nintendo has the game autosaving anytime a transaction is made. Such as buying, selling, crafting, donating, and more.

Well that would suck if you accidently sold a throne instead of an apple. :)
