Beetle farming help

I’m using the Mystery Island trick to farm the last few rare beetles I need. I did this the other night and it worked pretty well, but today I’m still getting butterflies spawning. I was under the impression that if you pick all the flowers they should stop spawning, and I’ve checked the island three times to make sure I didn’t miss any flowers. I am doing it earlier in the day this time, could that be the problem?

Sometimes, when the hour changes, the insects that are no longer meant to show up stays and the insects that are supposed to spawn does not.

I suggest farming at the time when majority of the butterflies no longer spawn, which is past 7PM. Without the butterflies interfering, beetles have more chances of appearing. The giant water bug will be your bane though. But that's better than the former.

You might need to go to a different mystery island to "refresh" the insect spawn.

I’ve heard this, but I thought as long as the flowers are plucked they shouldn’t spawn at all. Do I need to dig up the flowers? Last time just plucking them was enough.

No need to dig. I think the problem is just the time. It's best to fly past 7PM, not before.

That way, butterflies are no longer guaranteed to spawn.
