Sometimes I tune into YouTube or Instagram Lives, just to see what’s going on. These aren’t always gaming-related— sometimes news, sports, makeup, etc.
I don’t feel comfortable live-streaming myself, but if you have any experience, I’d like to know how well it works on your platform.
What livestream sites do you prefer to watch? Which is the least buggy/laggy and has the best chat?
I don't personally stream either, but I watch particular streamers. I primarily watch people on Twitch, but some folks do YouTube too. I prefer Twitch for its chat interface and the chat emotes people put on their channels for their subscribers. However, I prefer YouTube for the actual streaming since Twitch can be disagreeable for my tired, old queen of a laptop and also has tons of intrusive ads that can only be kept at bay with subscriptions. Considering that I watch multiple people, that's not an avenue I want to go down, and Twitch Turbo doesn't solve the issue either since it doesn't pay out as well to the individual streamers. I get the impression that Twitch is the preferable site for making a career out of it for those who want to do so.
No experience with Facebook, Instagram or TikTok streaming so I can't offer any comment on those.
I used to watch Billy Kametz’s live streams on Twitch. I haven’t watched twitch in a long time; the ones I’d watch are voice actor’s streams of them playing a game. Billy Kametz’s livestreams I felt most welcome at compared to other streams. He often would reply to comments in the chat; he was really funny and kind. Erika Harlacher would too; she was really nice but the community was not very welcoming considering everyone would ignore you to fight for her attention and the cliques. A lot of communities surrounding the VAs are like that since so many people want attention. The VAs, most of them were kind. Only one bugs me since to join his discord you need to subscribe to his twitch; he was kinda friendly but kinda not; nowhere as friendly as Billy and Erika.
Ever since Billy passed away, I haven’t watched much streams.
