Heyo! New Horizons is just around the corner, or already in some of folks' hands due to certain circumstances so I have been getting into the groove of drawing Animal Crossing fanart! I made this TBT account back in 2016, admittedly not much has happened since then but now I want to contribute regularly to my own thread here. Thanks for checking it out!

I want to become more active in the Animal Crossing community in general too. I love chatting about shared interests, so please feel free to message me any comments or questions!

Though not officially a diary or journal, I do plan on drawing from my experiences while playing New Horizons. My island will be populated with only Dog Villagers, but I am also fond of other different Villagers and Special NPCs too so keep your eyes peeled. To kick this off, from left to right: Daisy, Bea, Portia, and Cookie! Then Maddie and Cookie running across the shore, I suspect that there is a cinematic overview of the island for people visiting. It would be so adorable to see Villagers waving at us from below.

Wow how cute! I love your charming style. I love your colors too! The water looks amazing. I hope you do KK Slider sometime!

i love your art style!! you’re also freakishly good at drawing water omg

^^^ yes omg i 2nd drawing K.K slider. I love the artwork with water you did, it looks amazing *-*

Wow those are dope af. Are they traditional? They look like it. If not, what brushes do you use to get them to look all oldish like that? The remind me of those puzzles styled after that old artist dude. Very nice.

Thank you all so much for checking this thread and replying! I have not drawn water much before, but I will definitely should have plenty of chances later on to practice whenever New Horizons inspires me. I was planning on sketching K.K Slider earlier, but your feedback motivated me to pull out all the stops. Thank you again!

All of my art is digital, I use Paint Tool Sai (though I will make the switch to Clip Studio Paint...eventually). These are my brushes, please feel free to experiment! I have been using these textures only this past month, so I have not settled on a consistent look. If SAI or these brush settings are unavailable to you, then I suggest looking up tutorials about mimicking the look of 70s-80s anime. Usually folks post downloads of the textures they use to get that grainy, soft look. Here are my settings.

The texture for the rough brush is Noise1bitmp (62) and Paper 01 (94). The density is usually at 100%, but I play around with it for color picking. The pen is a default, only the density is changed for shading shenanigans.

Here is Carrie and Astrid, I love the Kangaroo model in Animal Crossing and how most of their catchphrases are terms of endearment for children.

From left to right: Diva, Jambette, and Gigi! I like all three of these underrated frog queens, I consider them to be an official unofficial trio.

WOW you work fast!!! I can't believe how much more you have to post already!

KK is perfect!!! How cute!! You really nail it with colors, I'm really charmed by your palletes.

Thanks for sharing your brush settings! I have a really tough time with textures in SAI, so I'm really excited to try it out. Do you have any specific of the 70s-80s style tutorials that stuck out to you?

They are all so cute!!! I love the kangaroos, I never noticed their catchphrases are terms of endearment from children that's so cute.. I also agree re: underrated frog queens!!! They look marvelous!

Pfft, oh, this thread is actually behind on my work since I am kind of nervous about being reprimanded for spamming my own thread. Still not quite sure how this all works, but I will get the hang of it! K.K Slider and the peach example were drawn this morning though.

This forum does funky things to the image quality, which is probably on me for drawing on small canvases. My AC twitter is @caninevillager and my art tumblr is moody-bidoof, in case you want to catch up.

Thank you so much for your kind words, and it is no problem at all! I would love see your experimentation sometime, if that is okay with you of course. Unfortunately I cannot recommend any specific tutorials for a retro anime style. I rarely ever used texture for a canvas before until a month ago when my hand literally slipped and I decided that I liked the look of it.

Haha wow that's even more impressive!! I don't remember the rules about double posting etc, I haven't been active here in years haha! I better look that up XD

Did you draw the peach example up just for this thread?!

I'll definitely follow your twitter!

I think I'll see if I can get a little doodle in practicing with your brush advice while I wait for animal crossing tonight!

Sorry for the late response! Thank you for your interest in my art; I did draw the peaches for this thread since I like having visuals.

I have been playing New Horizons since its midnight release in EST, I hope y'all are having as much of a blast crafting and fishing and bug catching as I am! Deirdre and Peck were my starter Villagers, and though I will move them out eventually, they have been great neighbors and grown onto me! Maybe I will still see them loitering around, somewhere, like how the moved out Villagers would still visit Main Street in New Leaf.

To catch this thread, here is more art that was done earlier this week! Daisy Mae, Marina, Chief, and Margie with Penelope!
