Birthday event questions

I am trying to get all the birthday item variations(I have customized all the ones I can) but I still need 1 hat and 1 glasses. I see that you can't do the birthday event more than once in a year and it also looks like villagers who you aren't friends with won't give you birthday items when you give them a cupcake, just regular junk. So I went forward to 2023 to do the event again. I should've gone in the day before my birthday to get all the where have you been junk from villagers out of the way. What I don't understand is why some villagers, after giving that dialog, will then do the birthday dialog and some wont? I am friends with all villages so that isn't the problem. Thanks

Its probably random and it depends on how high or low your friendship with your villagers are. Also if you had additional residents (users) they would get different variants of Birthday Items, but again you have to build friendship with each user in order for that to happen. I did it last year and man it was so time consuming.

i have 2 other residents but they arent friends with anyone, i tried. thanks

I don't understand what happened on my birthday, I have 2 photos of Al and Buck so assumed one of them would come to my front door but no it was Vic! I haven't even got one picture from Vic.
