I want to get Fates next month, since I'm currently studying abroad in England so not only is it not out here, but even if it was I wouldn't be able to play it on my NA 3DS (I'm heading home on May 1), but I don't know which to get. which would you guys recommend?
If you care, the FE games I've played (in order of preference)
Fire Emblem (GBA)
Awakening (3DS)
Sacred Stones (GBA)
Shadow Dragon (DS)
I'd say conquest from what I've read about. It's quite different to SS because you can't go back to maps and fight to get extra EXP, but the plot has more depth and its more of a challenge since you have to balance EXP gain. (Unless you buy DLC ofc.)
Depends on what you care about more. If it's the story, then get Birthright. If it's gameplay, get Conquest. If it's characters, then look what characters are available in each game and pick the one that appeals to you the most.
If you're planning on playing all three/both paths, then get Birthright first, as Conquest gameplay would make the Birthright a bit boring to play.
If you've played Fire Emblem before, which you have then I'd also say Conquest.
I've played both and enjoy both but I'm finding I prefer Conquest. Since I've only ever played Awakening before I consider myself pretty new to the series so I started off with Birthright which is very similar in difficulty to Awakening. Afterwards I decided to give Conquest a shot and it was quite refreshing as it provided more challenges. Granted, you can choose the difficulty to help you enjoy the the game more to your skill level.
I'm playing on Normal Classic right now but on my second run throughs I'm definitely going to go with Hard Classic as I feel pretty comfortable with the series now and would like more of a challenge.
But yes I suggest Conquest. You can always get Birthright at a later time and play it on a hard difficulty if you want more of a challenge.
