Okay, long story short my 3ds turns on, but both of the screen are blank and i've literally spent 2 hours trying and doing different things to fix it but it won't work. (it's also known as the black screen of death)

Basically, I was playing Super Smash Bros online when I suddenly got an error, then I turned it off, only to see that the screen was blank. I can still hear the sound, but can't see anything. Honestly don't want to spend $100 for Nintendo to fix it because i'm so done with the 3ds and probably selling it once Animal Crossing comes out on the switch.

I'm so frustrated ;-;

Excuse me for potentially repeating the same methods as others told you, since I don't know what you tried so far.

When you turned your 3DS off, are the LEDs still alight? If yes, try holding the POWER button until the lights shut off.

If your 3DS system can turn on yet doesn't display anything on the screen, power off the system, then hold L + R + A + Up (on Control Pad) and hit the POWER button. If done correctly, this should leads to the System Update.

If that fails to resolve your issue, I recommend getting the battery out and place it back. You'll need a Philips #00 screwdriver in order to take out the back cover that hides it.

If all elses fail, then you could always try disassembling your hardware and reconnect the connections for the Wi-Fi card and ribbon cables.

that happened to me a few times but after i let the battery die and then i plugged it in again it worked! maybe try that

I remember when I was playing acnl and suddenly there was black screen but the lights were still on. I didn't knew what to do so I pressed every button and after several minutes I got tired and pulled out the game cartridge and closed my 3ds. I checked every 10 minutes but after like 2 hours on my screen there was no black screen and just "cartridge pulled out" message on the top screen. I pressed the home button and everything was good!
