Blathers Tent Missing

I brought bugs/fish to Tom Nook, and he mentioned Blathers, but never gave me the item to place Blathers tent.
I already have the shop and bridge, but no way to get Blathers!

How many did you give him? you need five and then he will get a phone call from Blathers saying he wants to come.

I gave him all of them. It won't let me give him any more..and I never got the item

i gave him 5 and i cant give him more or even mention blathers

What all options do you have when speaking to Nook? What happens if you ask Nook "What should I do?"

Did Tom Nook teach you how to craft the net and fishing pole yet?

I've read the donate option won't show up unless you have fish/bugs in your inventory. I assume they must be non-duplicates too. Can you go collect new undonated fish/bugs and see if the donate option returns?

Okay figured it out. You need to complete the task you are on now and then after completing the task go to him and ask him what you can do.

I'm having a similar problem except that instead I got the tent for the blather and I placed it and then it disappeared and its been a couple of weeks. please let me know if you have a solution I'd love to find out how to fix it.
