Breeding hybrid tulips?

So, I'm currently breeding lots of hybrids in my town. It's all going very well... except the tulips. I must have about 100 red, white and yellow tulips bunched together (with spaces for more to grow) but I've only managed to grow two hybrids. Are tulips hard to breed, or have I just been incredibly unlucky?

The violets aren't going too well either, but I'm not too worried about those at the minute.

It's aaaaaaaall completely random. As long as you're watering them, that's all you can do, really.

Are you familiar with tulip color combinations? If not, here's a decent one http://bidoofcrossing.tumblr.com/post/51137777970/animal-crossing-new-leaf-hybrids

Make sure that the correct colors are grouped together, water them once a day, and use fertilizer to increase the chances.

As for me, I've had 4 days straight without breeding my pink tulips. It's starting to get frustrating. So I know how you feel~

Thanks for the helpful link and the tips! I think my flower placement is good, but I might adjust it a bit now I can see every combination.

So you know how frustrating it is, these flowers have been there for a month -_- I'll hang in there

Beautiful town ordinance is also a good idea. Ups the chance of hybrids, plus this means you can water what ones you want to breed and leave the other ones un-watered without them dying.

As for me, I've had 4 days straight without breeding my pink tulips. It's starting to get frustrating. So I know how you feel~

Ugh same, for some reason pink tulips are the most stubborn for me. I use fertilizer and appropriate placing and no spawns ever!

I line up flowers I want to breed on the beach. I pick four every day. For instance, 2 blue roses and 2 pink tulips.

I group them like this:
R. X T
R. T

The Rs are rises, the T tulips and the x is fertilizer.
I water with my gold or silver watering can.

The next day I always have 1 of each type. Sometimes the wrong color (a red rose from the blues) but rarely.

I don't water any other flowers, but my villagers do. I usually get one other random hybrid somewhere, but always 2 I wanted.

I'm not good at breeding hybrid flowers, but I am an expert at tulips.

To get more pink tulips, just breed red and white.
To get more orange tulips, either breed red and yellow, or two oranges.
To get more black tulips, plant two red tulips or two black tulips.
To get more purple tulips, plant two purple tulips. It's kinda funny that purple tulips look the hardest to obtain when they are the easiest tulips to get (based on how I play).

My town is primarly tulips, and all the hybrids are south of the river.

Ive had crappy luck with violets and cosmos in particular. I think tulips were a close 2nd though!

My cosmos and lilies seem to be doing exceptionally well at the moment. And I'm finally up to 3 whole hybrids tulips XD 1 black, 1 pink and 1 orange.

I just can't breed any pink lilly!
I have luck with roses (a lot actually) and even carnations! But I can't seem to have any luck with mah little pink flowers <3 Need them for a path and they seem to be so slow to breed, even when I have like 7 or 8 rows for breeding them :'c

I'm really unlucky with that...
