Hi,
I’ve seen a lot of creativity with terraforming and just overall design. Is there a way to do a makeshift bridge over water with a fence tool and flooring without having to pay for a bridge? Thanks. 🙂

It's totally possible to make a "fake" bridge. What you would probably need to do is grab some custom designs (if you have Nintendo Switch Online and want to make it look good) and fences, though you could also use some furniture objects that resemble fences, such as the DIY log stakes. Now you won't be able to have the look of water running under it unless you build the bridge North-South, so keep that in mind.

Anywho, if you want the "standard" bridge look, fill in a 4-tile across straight plot of land over a section of river that is also straight. The fences will go on the sides of the bridge closest to the water, leaving the center path open. Custom designs really work well here considering that the standard paths show more edges of the grass that kind of take away that bridge look, though you cannot eliminate grass completely regardless of path type. I would recommend at least two types of custom designs - one for under the fences and the other for the walkway. It's up to you on how you want it to look, but I'd make sure to pair wood fences with wood designs, metal fences to metal/asphalt designs, and stone fences with stone designs.

I quickly typed up this visual guide on what I talked about:

Each character resembles a space. For the best-looking results, I'd leave two spaces of straight river ("X") before having it bend. "F" is for placing the fences, "W" is the walkway, and "L" is the land. You could also make this bridge run East-West, though again, you'll won't have the illusion of water running under it.

There are also many places to gain inspiration for such a project, so take a look around! You'd be surprised how some creators make the illusion work.
