I'm noticing a large number of bugs that only land on Palm Trees and several are all in a specific time frame.

What did you all do? Get more Coconut Trees? Do more Deserted Island visits? I'm curious because 9 times out of 10, the bug on the palm tree is a bug that can be on any tree.

I'm curious if there's something I can do to up my chances.

I prefer to go to Nook Miles islands and just get rid of as many bug spawn spots as possible- take away other trees, stumps, flowers, etc. You'll then pretty much only get palm tree bugs (maybe ground ones, depending on the island) and you'll get A LOT of them. So, while you're still getting a lot of bugs that can be found on any tree, you can just chase those away and keep circling the island. You can get a solid number of the "good" bugs that way.

I also keep a lot of coconut trees on my island, but I run around my island so much I usually scare the good bugs off, lol

I hadn't thought of that idea but I like it, thank you. :)

I didn't really like running laps around such a tiny island myself, so I dug up a bunch of those trees and brought them home. I then put them around my island in tactical spots where I wasn't likely to immediately scare off any bugs that could show up. Close to my house, for example, so I would see them as I stepped out of the door, and before I'd start running.

Since I mostly played at night, I had no problem finding them all eventually. They'll be around for a few months anyway, so no need to hunt for them too hard!

*nods* that makes sense, though the beach by my house already has a bunch of stuff there. I think I'll bring a few more back with me next run, thanks

Back when I needed to find one of the cicadas shells, I ended up terraforming one of the Nook Mile islands. Basically just get rid of anything that can attract other insects. Destroy the flowers to get rid of butterfly spawns. Eventually after going back and forth through the island I came across one of the shells. It's one of the more rare insects. You can kind of use this solution for finding any other bug on the Nook island to.

If you have access to the sand path from the terraforming tool, you can plant palm trees on that as well, if you prefer! It's probably worth a try, even if you eventually decide to try your luck on a nook mile island.

i caught all the bugs on my own island. I brought back a bunch of coconut trees and planted coconuts to grow some. also there are some bugs that dont come out til late, like 11pm. So if there are some you cant find and youre not on at that time/tting that might be why

I have been checking the time, but that is something to remember. There's a handful of them that are evening/night until early morning.

I was not aware of that, thank you. I'll keep that in mind, right now, think I'm going to bring a few back and I did have some luck just taking everything out at one of the deserted islands.

ive noticed that the timing of them is a bit off as well. for me right now im trying to get the scarab and ive noticed every night that it has not shown up. the timing for this is supposed to be july-august and its now july 20th and no scarab. of course i dont go running around my island for 5 hours every night lol but i do know that they havent shown up between 11-1am yet.

Scarab beetles are rare, so even if you're searching at the right time, it may take a while to find one. Like others have pointed out, it's easier to find them on a Nook Miles island.

Re-writing this cause it came off in a way I didn't intend.

I found mine on one in my orchard, on a fruit tree. Why would destroying a NMT island help with that?
