I've been weighing this up for a few days but decided I would finally do a sort of "Running blog" of my progress in building my island. The project has so far taken me about a week and I'm not overly far through so I figured I'd mark this down as "Day 1" and go from there. I will ask you bare with me on the wall of text, I feel that I should express my goals for the island, what am I planning? Well let's dig into it.

My island is currently being split into 3. The diagram below is from the day of this posting;

island diagram.png

Island 1 - "Glitzy Modern Day": This is where my shops will be along with the initial plaza. With a very built up feel to it asphalt roads, street lamps and various road-side articles (vending machines and the like) dominate this area. With limited greenery tucked away between the sprawling roads (besides the garden next to the airport) it's meant to encapsulate the look of a modern day town or city.

Island 2 - "The Sub-urbs": This is where my island's residents and myself are situated. Islander's houses are in blocks with walls and roads leading from them. the Museum sits alone beneath them surrounded by water and having it's own "garden" to bring it some beauty. All houses will usually have a light outside their building for safety and the roads are still asphalt, but there's a slightly more "Open" feel than the city island. This part also has a small communal park area.

Island 3 - "A blast from the past": The 3rd section will be a far flung cry from Island 1 or 2, with only stone paving slabs as a pathway, trees, bamboo and Feudal Japanese architecture is the only things to be found here. The aim is to make this my "Nature" part, while trees and greenery will exist within the other two islands this is where it truly flourishes and comes to life. I aim to have the only thing which is a "Building" be the campsite and a Pagoda on the jutting out piece of grass (B1). All lighting will be Bamboo candle holders (Or if I can get them, a Blossom Viewing Lantern or Tall Lantern, if you can donate or wish to sell/trade these DIYs for NMTs let me know in PMs or below!!!!). I will be putting a small area aside for relaxation using Zen walls but still with the aim of making it in keeping with the theme.

"Day 1" progress so far:

So far the following pictures sum up the level of construction I have performed. As you can see the main "drag" from the airport is basically set up, with a small garden for visitors who might want to grab some fruits set aside, with a few flowers just to make it look a little nicer. The main drag will outline how this island will look, with things like vending machines, bins, lamps and so on dotted around as you'd expect to see them in reality. I've laid out the market/mall area with a big parking lot which also conveniently opens up onto the beach below, I've placed the marketplace poles in the middle of the park as I felt this is the best location for them (Especially since I didn't realize they dominate an area of 3x1 when ordering. A single one is also between our two shops. The "Brick path" is where brick walls will be placed (see how the townhall looks), I've even left little alley-ways beside the shops as I felt this is natural (Likely I will put bins in these alleys if it allows). The last things to do is move the bridge north of the town hall so a road can easily be made from the main drag, connecting island 1+3 effectively, and a bridge shall be placed between Island 1+2 where the museum is to connect that up as well naturally. Whilst all the other bridges will likely be Zen bridges this one will either be a stone or suspension bridge (in keeping with a modern theme and an "idea" that wheeled traffic would use it).

The housing area is laid out so I can copy it in the area below, this will be very "2 story" with one house outside of the main block but still in the same area. My house will likely be moved with the idea of making it walled and reminiscent of a "Mansion" (bushes, water features, etc.) Truely worthy of the "Island Rep". Unlike the first island the Zen walls will not be dotted along the roads as much as they were, with pavements open to the flowers/trees/grass. I will be putting benches and a maybe a bin here and there, but things like bikes/scooters will be outside a select few houses, as this is only natural that someone would use them in such a place no?

Island 3 is currently a mess of trees and a collection of thrown about items for when I come to sort it out. No pictures included as I see no need to basically show off some trees and some zen items flung around lol. Although I promise in the coming days I will be updating it!
