The Method in Question

I found this method on twitter on getting villagers fast through the campsite and wanted to try it for myself but have been seeming some difficulties doing so. Have any of you tried it? I wanna see if any of you have tips for doing this method lol.

What are your difficulties? I did try this method and got Raymond in my campsite. There is still RNG at play so if you're lucky you might find the villager you want in a couple of hours. If you're unlucky, maybe days before you see your dreamie.

There's only 35 smugs so the chances of finding raymond through this method is way better than island hopping. Especially when I didn't have any smugs in my island so the rate of smugs I was seeing at the campsite was fairly often.

It is also possible to see the same villager multiple times while doing this method as well.

You have to have a lot of patience doing this and I would suggest popping in a movie or something while you're doing this since the load screens can take a while.

I am doing this right now and it has been working as it should. What are the troubles youve been having?

I am doing this now for Whitney and Raymond! So, I got Marina through the method, but it took around 2 hours of grinding. Although this is a guaranteed method of getting your dreamies (given that you don't have their personality represented on your island yet), this is a grindy method and it will require some patience. I'm on day 2 for Whitney, even with no snooties on my island. Plus, I'll have to ask someone to watch Kyle for me while I cycle for Raymond. But, if you don't mind extensive time travel and you're willing to put in the work, it's completely worth it. If you have any other questions feel free to ask! Good luck with your search if you do this :)

Ive been wondering if there was a guide like this. Seems much less stressful than island hopping. I’ll probably do this when im done gathering art to find chevre. I already have 2 normals though so it may be difficult.

Maybe I’m doing it correctly and it’s just taking longer than I thought lol. What I do is whenever I get a campsite and it’s a villager I don’t want. I TT a week forward. Usually there’s no campsite there so after that I just keep going one day forward at a time until there is. Once it does have a villager and it’s one I don’t want I repeat the process again. Idk if this is how I’m supposed to do it (I think it is but I could be wrong) but it’s very slow lol. I don’t get campers very often. Idk if this is just how it is or not bc I’ve seen other people get campers pretty fast but it could just be bad RNG at play.

It would be convinent if the same day could have a camper if you just reload it. I say this because ive been tting between two days (april 15 and 16) and the first time i went to the 16th i had a camper, then went back to the 15, then back to the 16th and no camper. I wonder how this works. Maybe I’ll try starting up the same day over and over to confirm it wont work, or has someone tried this before? I’m tired of weeding and having to console my villagers all the time when i jump forward a whole bunch.

you are doing it correctly and yes it is VERY slow. Sometimes i TT one week forward and check day by day and not see one until 9 days later. Sometimes I TT one week forward and i'll see one the next day. It's really just RNG at play.

I had to TT to June before I got a camper I wanted, so as long as you're patient, you'll definitely get the villager you want!

My tip is to start once the villager you didn't like of your chosen personality type has already moved out & someone else has taken their place.
So, say I really want Bam- if I already have Genji as the jock on my island, I'll need him out & someone else to move in his lot that I don't necessarily want. If you already have 2 normals (say Poppy and Daisy), I'd suggest getting another normal to take his place. Here's why: although who the camper selects to kick out seems to be random, I had 3 peppy villagers and no jocks. When Kid Cat suggested who to kick out, 4/6 times he suggested one of my three peppies. We already know that the game really wants you to have a "balanced" island with all the personality types, so my theory is that your camper will be more likely to pick someone that is in the dominant personality type on your island. I'd need to test it a little more, but it makes a ton of sense as a theory.

I think after the patch hit campers are spawning more frequently than a week apart, but I don't have conclusive numbers on that just yet.

I got Raymond through this method! It definitely takes quite a bit of time though I have heard of people getting their desired villager on the 4th or 5th try. It took me about 4 hours and 25 villagers before I found Raymond. I also agree with others that it's a lot easier to get your desired villager if you currently have no other villagers with that personality.

I'm getting villagers consistenly by doing like this: when you see a villager in your campsite and it's not the not you want, go back to real time, open the game, save, close, travel 6 days forward, and go one day by one until Isabelle announces a visitor. It can still take like two weeks, but my average is getting a visitor after three to five days. edit: btw idk if it makes any difference I'm doing like this to not be spoiled of other seasons lol
But yeah, being slow is part of the process, but the odds are higher and it's free, and you can do it basically with your brain turned off so it's not that bad

I tried the method before and found Reneigh had to play many games with her before she even said play a game and win and ill move in. Every-time i win she would always choose Cyd, none of the other 9 villagers i even made sure to close the app hoping she'd choose someone different but every-time she wanted to boot Cyd so i sadly gave up on her.

I was island hopping yesterday for Raymond, and jotted down all the villagers with their respective personalities. I have one jock, two peppies, two lazies, one smug, one normal, one snooty, one sisterly and no crankies on my island at the time.

Of my 112 encounters before finding Raymond, I ran into:
  • Jocks - 19
  • Cranky - 17
  • Peppy - 16
  • Snooty - 16
  • Normal - 15
  • Lazy - 14
  • Smug - 11
  • Sisterly - 6
The correlation and odds are less clear in my example but the missing personality is the second most encountered. From that, I ran into four of the new New Horizons which are Audie, Cyd, Judy and Raymond once each. Your campsite TT method should yield similar results.

My friend wrote a guide for this method (can drop the link if y'all want), and since then, many people on Discord have used it.

I would say that it definitely works if done correctly and is very reliable. It's A LOT better than the mystery islands if you're going after 1 specific villager (trust me I know a lot about the mystery islands now lol)

My recommendation for the campsite trick is that you need to close the game right when they announce who they're going to boot. You must do this before exiting the dialogue or the game will autosave and be locked on that person.

I'd be interested in the link for this 😯
