Can I discard and repurchase my 2020 Fair Patch collectable?

I'm wondering if this can work since it's one per user and I would like to get one with a different time stamp if possible. Can I toss mine and repurchase it?

Yes, which I anticipated. I was only concerned that I would not be able to buy it again since it is unique, but whether you had it previously does not matter, so long as you do not currently own one.

The Fair Patch is considered unique and you're only allowed one at a time, also they are not able to be gifted. I even tried to purchase two of them earlier at the same time and that's when I realized it at first, so I couldn't just date trade my old one.

Yep since the fair patch is classified as unique, you can only buy one. Since OP wanted a newer timestamp for the patch, they had to discard the collectible and repurchase it from the shop.
