I've noticed a lot of posts about the lottery here. Its been said the one in shop isn't even worth it (even by me!)

I was thinking of just creating a thread Lottery of my own, with the same rules as the one in shop. Except instead of having to get all 3 numbers right, your prize size depends on how many you get right (1=50, 2=100, 3=150 or something like that). And maybe only charge 2 TBT per entry since the prizes here aren't as big as the actual shop lottery.

Also looking to recruit people who might be interested in help running it :)

UPDATE: The Lottery was just posted in the TBT Marketplace! Go check it out lovelys :D

what happens if no one wins? what do you do with the bells? or will it be like RL and rack up $$ until someone wins?

I might be interested in helping run things :]

It's allowed, as far as I know. I used to run a lottery but got bored of it because the profits weren't good enough.

I remember someone tried this before (I think it was Ryan888??), and it did not last long, I believe he ended up loosing out

OOh, I remember that lols. I think the problem with past lotteries is that the people who tried to host were looking to make profits from the lotteries and that ends up looking very scammy to people which is why not that many people participate.

My idea for the lottery would be that people pay a low amount of bells (10?) to pick 3 numbers out of 33, if no one wins that week, the money keeps accumulating til someone does win, if it's a tie breaker, they split the prize. It'd be interesting to see the pot grow.

Not sure how it works, but this seems easy enough. Pay like 10 bells per "ticket", like Sholee said. Get your numbers, and if you win, you win. If not, try again.

The host can make the starting prize number something low, but not too low. Like 100 btb or something, then for every 10 bells received from entrants, the host can take like 3-4 bells for themselves? Then put the rest into the jackpot until someone wins. The only problems I could see is that the host may not profit at all if someone wins early on, so you'll wanna make the range of numbers generated from a much larger one, but then the lottery also becomes more difficult for the users entering. I'm just making all of this up by assuming that the host would want to profit at least a little. If they just want this to be a giveaway though then nevermind the take from the ticket money, just stack all of that on top of the original jackpot :p

Oooh sounds cool! I'd be interested in helping out, but no worries if not ^-^
Of course! I've seen you around a lot and you seem to be a great member of our little community.

Yes this is what I will be doing. I'll charge perhaps 8 bells per ticket, and keep 2 for myself and 2 for my partner, Nightmares.
The jackpot will keep accumulating until a person(s) win the jackpot. In the event of a tie, it shall be split. When the jackpot has been won, me and Nightmares (if they so wish) will make another starter of 100 bells or whatever and the bells from tickets will accumulate once again.

Is there anything else you guys think I should do??

This is actually a really cool idea! If you do end up making it, I would love to help you out.

There's nothing forbidding this.

However, I would personally advise against anyone participating in such a thing, regardless of who is hosting it. It wouldn't be difficult at all for anyone to rig it in their favour, whether for themselves or their friends. And I could not offer you any guarantees that we (the staff) would be able to take care of any issues that arise. At your own risk folks!

We can always post the actual results right? So we can prove it's not rigged or whatever ahaha

Yeah. I have a screen recorder app in which I can record my screen for proof of number generator.

I'm not big on lotteries myself or raffles myself, however if you guys create the lottery thread I will definitely buy at least 2 tickets to help you guys out in the beginning! I like seeing lotteries, and people winning, I'm just not one to gamble.
